A peer assessment sheet I made for use in Ks2 There are 2 to a page and sticks easily in to a book

I created this sheet based on Excitable Edgar (The John Lewis Advert) to use with my class. Lots of the questions are open questions and could have various answers, hence I haven’t made an answer sheet. There is a link to the video which needs to be watched before the activity

I love the Iron Man and have done it several times over the years with years 3, 4 and 5 The kids love it! Here is loads of stuff from notebook files, to worksheets to all sorts of other resources. During moderation, using HYPHENS was one area of writing most of my children always found hard to ‘tick off’. So to help them I compiled this hyphenated word bank. I left a space in each letter so they could add words of their own to it. But having them in front of them has definitely helped them to get hyphenated words in to their writing more. Some of them had to be explained to them for meaning, but now they love trying to fit some of the more unusual ones in to their writing. They also add words from their reading books to the list. Last year, we did the book 'Shackleton’s Journey and the children loved it! It is a power of reading book and also linked with our whole school topic of Ice. Here are my plans and lots of the notebook files I made- hopefully some people will find some of it useful.

I made these grids similar to the moderation sheets we use as teachers, but child friendly with pictures and examples to help the children understand what to look for in their writing. My children use these effectively and it also helps my teacher assessment and their understanding. It may help new year 6 teachers too! I am sharing a unit of work I made based on 'You're a Bad Man Mr Gum' by Andy Stanton. My Year 3s loved this and said it was their favourite work they did all year. I have included loads of Notebook Files. 5 weeks worth of planning, pictures, activities, a who wants to be a millionaire game based on the book that I made and loads of self assessment checklists. I made this for my classroom and it has been really successful. We have printed it on A3 paper and laminated it and it is displayed in the classroom. During the week, I choose 5 words that lots of the class are getting wrong. Under the tick I write the correct spelling and under the cross some of the incorrect spellings for that word children have used. I hope others find it as useful as my class have.

I created these checklist cards as English Coordinator to help embed grammar throughout the school. The children can use them to assess when they have done a piece of writing. I used both the national curriculum and Pie Corbett's progression in writing to put these together. They are very visual and give examples. This is the year 4 one. This sheet explains and revises active and passive voice. I made these to help my class to consolidate their understanding of active/passive and now they are using it independently in their writing. There are 3 tasks to complete- it is colourful and visual and gives clear examples of each. I currently teach a very mixed ability year 5 and 6 class and they all found it useful.

A worksheet with 3 different tasks to help with grammar. Goes over different sentence types- exclamation, command , statement and question with examples. Nice and visual and colourful. Can be adapted slightly in need be. My year 5/6s loved doing this!

I did a 2-3 week unit on the book ‘The Firework Maker’s Daughter’ by Phillip Pullman. I can’t find my planning- but here are the notebook files I made in case they are useful to anyone else.

A fun maths code cracker with all words from 'A Christmas Carol by Dickens. This could be used as a fun festive activity which links English and Maths with upper KS2, Year 7 or EAL and SEN children. 4 pages altogether -including answers download or 'Bah Humbug!'

I think this in the most useful resource I've made so far to help year 5 and 6 children with their writing. It has helped me get my books in order for writing moderation too! This word mat is to be photocopied double sided and laminated.
