Inspector Calls Revision Lesson/Activity
This resource gears GCSE students up for English Literature Paper 1. The handout takes them through how to plan for the essay with a clear example given, as well as how to write a good analytical paragraph, also with an example. If the students plan and develop a paragraph for all the questions then this will be a complete lesson. There is an option at the end for the students to write a timed essay in 50 minutes - maybe homework or follow-up lesson? The handout is in word so can be easily edited. Hope this helps!

A structured test paper which tests reading skills based on an extract from Great Expectations. Great for getting students practising reading skills on pre-twentieth century. Year 8 Reading Assessment
A clear and effective structured assessment in which students respond to a question on how the author creates an atmosphere of terror. There is the option of a using a Point/Evidence/Technique/Analysis/Link (PETAL) structured framework with a clear example for weaker students. Time allowed for assessment: 45 to 60 minutes.
Descriptive Devices Match Activity
A great resource to help students from Year 9 - 11 revise/learn a wide range of descriptive devices. Matching activity should take 20 minutes and then there is an added activity of finding examples of each technique so could become a complete lesson if students are looking at a descriptive extract.

This handy resource will guide your student towards using precise and sophisticated vocabulary when discussing or writing about characters and their motivations. Can be a great revision resource for Literature texts or a great starter.
