This lesson can easily be lengthened for two seperate hour long lessons if needed. The students reacted very positively to this lesson.
This is a PowerPoint covering the different types of Sewa with special emphasis on Langar. It includes logos, discussion tasks, written tasks and has no worksheets. It was originally planned as a 90 minute lesson for Year 7 but can be used for any KS3 or KS4 class and easily adapted for a shorter lesson. There are videos and extension activities for further study.
This is a 10-15 minute assembly, tutor time session or PSHE session. It was originally a PSHE session for KS3, KS4 and KS5.
It contains some videos, discussions and points to think about which are key to keeping positive at school and in life in general. Pupils responded very well to this resource. There are no written activities.

This lesson contains a review about smoking with a quiz and a competition. This was originally part of a PSHE day on smoking for Year 7 but can be used from KS2 - KS4 (Ages 7-16) as a standalone lesson or part of another lesson about smoking. It discusses questions about the law, addiction and chemicals and ends with a competition task for pupils to complete.
This is a 15-20 minute assembly on the role of an MP. It has some specific information about Birmingham but this can easily be adapted to include your own MP by following the website and instructions in the Notes section. This was originally a Year 10 Citizenship tutor time session but could easily be lengthened to last a whole lesson. It covers the definition of an MP, their role and tasks, the importance of democracy, the structure of parliament, what issues young people may be struggling with today and an introduction to ‘Make Your Mark 2022’ with the Youth Parliament. Students reacted very well to this presentation.
It fits into the PSHE or Citizenship curriculums or can be used for a KS3, KS4 or KS5 (Ages 11-18 Years 7-13) assembly or whole school session on Fundamental British Values.
This is a 10-20 minute assembly on Storm Arwen and the devastation it has caused throughout the UK. It was originally used for a whole school tutor time Citizenship session at the start of December 2021 to explore the issues it raises. It is suitable for KS3, KS4 & KS5 (Ages 11-18, Years 7-13) and includes:
A summary of Storm Arwen
How it effected people in the UK
Discussion questions about electricity cuts, importance of helping the community and whether the UK should be better prepared for extreme weather conditions
How this connects to Fundamental British Values and mutual respect
How this connects to the UN Rights of a Child

The PowerPoint is narrated but this can easily be changed by deleting the icon on each slide if you would prefer to add your own narration or leave it for teachers to deliver. This could easily be adapted with written tasks to last a whole lesson if required. This fits into the Citizenship, PSHE and FBV Curriculums and can be used as an effective summary. Students reacted very positively to this session.
This is a full lesson on an introduction to Hinduism covering their beliefs in god, festivals, beliefs, symbols, temple, worship etc. It includes a couple of short video clips and some discussion and written questions for students to complete. It has some extension tasks and is suitable for use in the classroom with no photocopying required. It is suitable for KS2, KS3 and KS4 (Ages 11-18) and takes an introductory look at one of the world’s most popular religions.
This handout has two Guru Nanak miracle stories on so they can be read as a class, complete a role play or storyboard about the events. This is suitable for KS2, KS3 and KS4 (Ages 7-16) to widen their knowledge about Sikhism and introduce stories about the first Guru.
This is a KS3, KS4 or KS5 lesson (ages 11-18) focusing on Rastafarianism. It explores the different practices e.g. ital food, dreadlocks, reasoning sessions. It also shows how rastafarianism began and how it developed and is practiced today. There are some video clips, discussion activites, creative activities and written tasks. There is no photocopying for this lesson.
This lesson is suitable for 60-90 minute lessons but can be shortened or lengthened very easily. It can be used in Citizenship, PSHE or RE lessons with a focus on SMSC.

This is a 60-90 minute lesson for RE, Citizenship, SMSC, FBV or PSHE. It covers what MPs do, why students should write to them and outlines how to write an effective letter. This lesson belonged to a topic of Protest and this ends the topic with students writing their own letter of protest to their MP about something they feel is important in their local area. Suggested topics are given, written and discussion tasks included, a youtube clip that is downloaded that will never disappear and a section on emotive language and why this is important in letters of protest to MPs. There is a handout that accompanies the lesson to show students a model letter and allow them to have the selection of emotive language features in front of them while they write the letter. You will need to change the school address and MP’s details in the letter and the powerpoint to make it totally relevant for your students. This contributes to Citizenship education and was originally an RE lesson which was very well received by both the MP and the students. It is suitable for KS3 - KS5 (Ages 11-18, Years 7-13) and was originally a Year 9 lesson in the topic of Protest.
This is a 20 minute session which can be used as an assembly, a PSHE or Citizenship tutor time session or could be easily shortened and it can easily last 60-90 minutes if required focusing on the conflict between Ukraine and Russia (originally created on 30th January 2022 but fully updated on 25th February 2022). It was originally being used for a Citizenship tutor time News session. This is suitable for KS3 - KS5 (Ages 11-18, Years 7-13, Grade 6-13). There are no written activities but plenty of discussion tasks and downloaded video clips that will never disappear. This covers:
