This is a fully resourced lesson about how Martin Luther King’s Christian beliefs influenced his actions. It has an excellent starter sheet, carousel activity, discussion tasks, written tasks and an interactive plenary. It goes through the influence of the Bible, group prayer, being a pastor, non-violent protest & Jesus. It includes information on Civil Rights but its focus is on Martin Luther King’s Christian faith. It was originally a 60 minute year 8 lesson but can easily last 90 minutes or it can be shortened if needed.

This is a 10-15 minute assembly about the recent news of the death of Archbishop Desmond Tutu. It is suitable for all year groups from Year 6 - Year 13 (KS2, KS3, KS4, KS5, Ages 10-18) and can be used for an assembly, tutor time session, whole school, PSHE or Citizenship session. It can easily be lengthened by changing the discussion activities to written ones for it to last a whole lesson. There is one youtube clip which is downloaded so it will never disappear. It is narrated but you can delete this by clicking on the icon and pressing delete. This is a 20 minute session which can be used as an assembly, a PSHE or Citizenship tutor time session or could be easily shortened and it can easily last 60-90 minutes if required focusing on the conflict between Ukraine and Russia (originally created on 30th January 2022 but fully updated on 25th February 2022). It was originally being used for a Citizenship tutor time News session. This is suitable for KS3 - KS5 (Ages 11-18, Years 7-13, Grade 6-13). There are no written activities but plenty of discussion tasks and downloaded video clips that will never disappear. This is a worksheet that can be used as part of a lesson about how Martin Luther King was inspired by Jesus’ teachings from the Bible. It focuses on 4 key Bible verses and asks pupils to explain how Martin Luther King Jr acted on those Biblical teachings. A simple but effective worksheet to ensure pupils understand the influence of his Christian beliefs on his work. This is suitable for KS2 - KS4 (Ages 7-18).

This is a 15-20 minute assembly about community cohesion. It can be used for a tutor time PSHE session or whole school session for KS3, KS4 & KS5 (Ages 11-18, years 7-13) and tackles the important issue of cohesion amongst the community. It has one slide that is specific to Birmingham but this can be altered or still used outside the city. There are discussion questions and no written activities although these could be easily adapted to last for an entire lesson if needed. This was to inform the students about what was going on in government, teach them about democracy and give room for debate. This could easily be lengthened to an hour’s lesson by holding a more formal debate. It is suitable for KS3-KS5 (Ages 11-18, Years 7-13, Grades 6-12) and can be used as an assembly or part of the Citizenship, PSHE, FBV, SMSC or tutor time programmes. This is a 15 minute assembly about positive relationships. It can be used as part of tutor time, a whole school assembly for 11-18 year olds or as part of a lesson or on an online learning platform. This can be used for PSHE, Citizenship, SMSC, Tutor Time, Assemblies, Whole School days, Online Platforms and teaches the students how to have positive relationships in their lives. It talks about prejudice, discrimination, bullying and aims to teach students how to have positive relationships. Students responded really well to this whole school assembly.

This is an assembly on organisation and routine. It could be used in tutor time or as part of a PSHE or Citizenship lesson to explain the importance of being organised at school and having a good routine. It is based on discussion activities and does not contain any written tasks. This assembly lasts about 15 minutes with discussion.

This is a 15 minute assembly exploring the role of UNICEF in the world. It has three downloaded videos that will never disappear about their work. There is some more information and discussion activities. It was originally a PSHE tutor time session for Year 8 and does not have any written tasks. It can be used for KS3, KS4 and KS5 (Ages 11-18, Years 7-13) and forms part of the Keeping Safe in Education Safeguarding guidance, the new RSE & Health Curriculum and the current PSHE and Citizenship criteria. It is a quick snapshot of the work of UNICEF most suitable for an assembly or tutor time but can be lengthened to last a whole lesson and a wider audience. Students reacted very well to this resource and it evoked important discussions.

This is a 60-90 minute narrated lesson about religious views on protest. It includes some downloaded video clips which will never disappear. It includes different religious quotes about protest and has activities based on Martin Niemoller’s poem, ‘Then they came for me’ and the question of whether we should protest for others. It explores how the Golden Rule of all religions can be used for views on protest and goes through how to answer a 12 mark GCSE answer on this topic - "Religious people should always protest about important issues. It includes discussion and written activities and is fully narrated. You can easily delete the icon on each slide if you do not want it narrated or want to change some of the more specific slides for homework etc. This was originally an a lesson for Year 9 in the topic of ‘Protest’ in Religious Education but is suitable for all secondary school pupils (Ages 11-18 KS3, KS4 and KS5). It can also be linked with the new RSHE curriculum, the PSHE curriculum or a whole school tutor time resource.
