This is a fully resourced lesson about how Martin Luther King’s Christian beliefs influenced his actions. It has an excellent starter sheet, carousel activity, discussion tasks, written tasks and an interactive plenary. It goes through the influence of the Bible, group prayer, being a pastor, non-violent protest & Jesus. It includes information on Civil Rights but its focus is on Martin Luther King’s Christian faith.
This pack includes everything you need for this lesson which has been graded Outstanding by Ofsted and included in a Summary report for a secondary school. This is a 10-15 minute assembly about the recent news of the death of Archbishop Desmond Tutu. It is suitable for all year groups from Year 6 - Year 13 (KS2, KS3, KS4, KS5, Ages 10-18) and can be used for an assembly, tutor time session, whole school, PSHE or Citizenship session. This is a 20 minute session which can be used as an assembly, a PSHE or Citizenship tutor time session or could be easily shortened and it can easily last 60-90 minutes if required focusing on the conflict between Ukraine and Russia (originally created on 30th January 2022 but fully updated on 25th February 2022). This session contributes to ‘Keeping Children Safe in Education’ and the new Relationships & Sexual Education and Health Education. It also highlights safeguarding, British values and can be used as part of the PSHE curriculum. It can easily be adapted if needed but covers all the necessary guidance. Pupils have responded very well to this presentation in the past and I have updated it for this year.
This is a worksheet that can be used as part of a lesson about how Martin Luther King was inspired by Jesus’ teachings from the Bible. It focuses on 4 key Bible verses and asks pupils to explain how Martin Luther King Jr acted on those Biblical teachings. A simple but effective worksheet to ensure pupils understand the influence of his Christian beliefs on his work. This is suitable for KS2 - KS4 (Ages 7-18).
This is a 15-20 minute assembly about community cohesion. It can be used for a tutor time PSHE session or whole school session for KS3, KS4 & KS5 (Ages 11-18, years 7-13) and tackles the important issue of cohesion amongst the community. It has one slide that is specific to Birmingham but this can be altered or still used outside the city. It is suitable for KS4-KS5 (Ages 14-18, Years 10-13) and can be easily lengthened to be suitable for a whole lesson if needed. This fits into the new RSHE curriculum and the PSHE curriculum and was originally a tutor time PSHE session for Year 11.

This is a 15 minute assembly on Sexism and Gender Inequality. It was originally a tutor time PSHE session for Year 10 but is suitable for KS3, KS4 and KS5 (Ages 11-18, Years 7-13. It covers what sexism is and whether it is still an issue in the UK. It includes three short downloaded video clips that will never disappear! It covers sexism in the workplace, what feminism is and some statistics about sexism in the UK. It has discussion activities and no written tasks. This is a 15 minute PSHE resource, assembly or tutor time session for KS3-KS5. It was originally a Year 9 PSHE tutor time session but is suitable for Years 7-13, Ages 11-18. It covers what the Equality Act, how it is put into action, some examples and two short downloaded video clips so they will never disappear! There is also an interactive quiz at the end as a plenary.
This was originally a PSHE tutor time 15 minute session on Character Education and how to be a have a good character for KS2, KS3 or KS4 (Years 5-13, Ages 9-18). It can be shortened to 10 minutes or lengthened to 25 with discussion activities. There are no written activities in this powerpoint, just discussion tasks, a video that is downloaded so will never disappear and information for students to think about and discuss. This follows the Character Education guidance released by the DfE and the new Relationships & Sex & Health Education Curriculum in 2020. Students responded well to this session.

This was to inform the students about what was going on in government, teach them about democracy and give room for debate. This could easily be lengthened to an hour’s lesson by holding a more formal debate.
It is suitable for KS3-KS5 (Ages 11-18, Years 7-13, Grades 6-12) and can be used as an assembly or part of the Citizenship, PSHE, FBV, SMSC or tutor time programmes.

This is a comprehensive list of hundreds of relevant awareness days for a primary or secondary school. It maps the entire academic year and includes over 400 different dates and days.
This is useful for pastoral leaders, PSHE leads, SLT or anyone that is putting together an assembly rota, bulletin, calendar or diary for the academic year starting September 2023.
It includes cultural, religious, personal, health and social awareness days and has been triple checked for accuracy. I have pulled together all of the dates so you won’t find a more comprehensive diary anywhere. This will be a document that is updated as more dates are added next year or there are any changes.
