I have been Head of RE, Pastoral Lead and Head of PSHE & Citizenship in my 19 year teaching career. I am currently Head of PSHE & Citizenship at a large secondary school 11-18. My shop includes: PSHE and Citizenship sessions, Assemblies, Tutor Time activities SMSC, Fundamental British Values and Religious Education. They are fully resourced RE or Citizenship lessons, worksheets or 15 minute assemblies/tutor time PSHE sessions suitable for 11-18 and some can also be used for younger audiences.

This is a 10-20 minute assembly on the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham 2022. It is specifically about this year’s commonwealth games and focuses on how it will change and has changed the city of Birmingham. It is suitable for KS3-KS5 (Ages 11-18, Years 7-13, Grades 6-12) as an assembly or tutor time session. It has no written activities just discussion tasks but this can easily be changed to make it last a whole lesson. It includes: Information about the Commonwealth Games What the Commonwealth is How has it affected the people of Birmingham Advantages and disadvantages of the Games How the city will be tranformed A debate about whether it is positive for the city How it connects to Fundamental British Values How it connects to the UN Rights of a Child Reflection and links for students to look at later and links to other news stories Pictures, logos, dual coding throughout 2 downloaded videos that will never disappear Students received this session well and it was originally a whole school resource for a tutor time Citizenship session. It is narrated but this can easily be changed by deleting the icon on each slide if you would prefer it not narrated.

This is a 15 minute assembly on Sexism and Gender Inequality. It was originally a tutor time PSHE session for Year 10 but is suitable for KS3, KS4 and KS5 (Ages 11-18, Years 7-13. It covers what sexism is and whether it is still an issue in the UK. It includes three short downloaded video clips that will never disappear! It covers sexism in the workplace, what feminism is and some statistics about sexism in the UK. It has discussion activities and no written tasks. It could easily be lengthened to a whole lesson with longer debates and written activities. This fits into the new RSHE curriculum, the PSHE curriculum and works towards addressing sexual harassment and inequality in society.

This is a 15 minute assembly, tutor time or PSHE session to share with students in Years 7-13 (KS3, KS4 & KS5 Ages 11-18). It has a downloaded video of newsround clip suitable for all students and explains a snapshot of the situation in Afghanistan. This was originally a whole school assembly narrated but you can easily delete the narration by deleting the icon on each slide. It includes a brief history of the area, key information about the Taliban and Afghanistan, discussion questions, a reflection and a slide connecting it to British Values. It also contains suitable links on the last slide for students to explore more about this topic if they wish. There are no written tasks in this PowerPoint but could easily be turned into an hour’s Citizenship or PSHE lesson if needed.

It can be used for all KS3, KS4 & KS5 (Ages 11-18, Years 7-13) year groups as an assembly, a tutor time session or a PSHE whole school lesson. It was originally a tutor time PSHE session for Year 10. It includes: What hate crime is What the law about hate crime is Graph to show the rise in hate crime What to do if you experience hate crime inside and outside of school 3 downloaded videos (that will never disappear) that explore whether hate crime adverts are effective and shows examples of hate crimes in society Whether we should allow hate crime or stand up to it It includes discussion activities but no written tasks, although these could be adapted to last a whole lesson if needed. It fits into the new Relationships and Health Education curriculum, Keeping Safe in Education, PSHE & Citizenship curriculum, SMSC & FBV and is appropriate for a whole school assembly.

It outlines definitions, the law, issues that arise, why it is important to know about consent and sources of support. This has two downloaded short videos and includes discussion activities, information, where to get support and a plenary quiz. There are no written activities but this can be easily lengthened for a whole PSHE lesson. This is suitable for KS4 and KS5 students (Years 10-13, Ages 14-18) and links to the new RSE and Health Curriculum.

This is a KS3, KS4 or KS5 lesson (ages 11-18) focusing on Rastafarianism. It explores the different practices e.g. ital food, dreadlocks, reasoning sessions. It also shows how rastafarianism began and how it developed and is practiced today. There are some video clips, discussion activites, creative activities and written tasks. There is no photocopying for this lesson. This lesson is suitable for 60-90 minute lessons but can be shortened or lengthened very easily. It can be used in Citizenship, PSHE or RE lessons with a focus on SMSC. This is a comprehensive list of all of the online free training courses available for staff to improve their knowledge about topics in the new RSE and Health Curriculum and aid their teaching of PSHE and Citizenship. Each training course has their website, their relevance, timings etc so it is a full list which can be used in a staff training session or put on the Staff online area for people to access throughout the year to complete extra PSHE training courses. Relevant to all Secondary School staff with any interest in PSHE, RSE, safeguarding or mental health.

This is a 15-30 minute tutor time session celebrating deaf awareness week. However, it can also be used for deaf awareness at any time of the year. It is suitable for KS3-KS5 (Years 7-13, Ages 11-18, Grade 6-12). It was originally a Citizenship session for the whole school. It includes: Information about deaf awareness week Information about how many deaf people there are in the UK Information about the devices people use A downloaded and clipped video which will never disappear about what ‘deaf’ means How we can support those in the deaf community What British Sign Language is and why it is important Activity and infographic getting students to sign their own name A connection to Fundamental British Values, UN Rights of a Child and a Reflection task Other links to watch the news There are discussion and activities throughout but this could easily be changed into written tasks to last a whole lesson if required. It includes dual coding and logos throughout. This presentation was well received by all year groups and many have gone on to learn BSL as a result. This is a 10-15 minute assembly or tutor time PSHE or whole school session which is fully narrated and designed for Upper KS2, KS3, KS4 & KS5 (Ages 9-18, Years 5-13). It outlines: What anger is What the symptoms of anger are Strategies to control your anger 2 downloaded video clips that will never disappear giving more coping strategies Things you should not do when you are angry and things you should try to do instead 2 case studies for students to discuss as a class what the two students should do in their situations concerning anger management How to access support for anger management (this is specific to Birmingham, West Midlands but can easily be adapted to anywhere else) There are discussion questions and quotes to aid discussion and these can be turned into written activities if you want to make this session last a whole lesson. There are two downloaded video clips that will never disappear and it is narrated although you can delete this by just deleting the icon on each slide if you would prefer. This session contributes to ‘Keeping Children Safe in Education’ and the new Relationships & Sexual Education and Health Education. It also highlights Safeguarding, British values and can be used as part of the PSHE curriculum. It can easily be adapted if needed but covers all the necessary guidance. Pupils have responded very well to this presentation in the past and I have updated it for this year.

This is a 10-15 minute tutor time resource about British Values. It could be used for an assembly or PSHE/Citizenship/FBV/SMSC session. It explains what the five British values are, how these should be implemented, a discussion about universal values, a focus on the first two values. - Democracy and the Rule of Law. There are many discussion tasks and these could be written tasks if you wanted to lengthen it to a whole lesson. There are three short videos that are downloaded so will never disappear. This was originally an assembly for KS3-KS5 but can also be used as a tutor time session for KS2, KS3, KS4 and KS5 and is suitable for all year groups (Ages 8-18, Years 4-13). This gives a great overview of British Values and has been positively received by many students.
