I have taught science for the last 15 years in secondary schools. I currently work in a school that caters for students that have special educational needs and social, emotional and behavioural difficulties. A simple science activity for SEN or lower ability students to learn to recognise the colours of the pH scale. Students look at the pH numbers in the picture and use the correct pH colour to colour each section of the diagram. This simple activity will help students learn the correct pH colour for acids, alkalis and neutral pH.

A science activity to help students navigate their way around the periodic table of elements. The students are to look for the chemical symbol in the diagram and find which period on the periodic table it belongs to, then colour the section accordingly using the colour key. This is a great activity for cover lessons for all abilities or can be used as an end of term treat. It is very useful to help younger chidren or lower ability or special education needs students learn their way around the periodic table and be able to recognise chemical symbols.
