I used this to finish the cryptography topic with SEN students- once they were practised in decoding and used staff members and humour to engage them in the mystery. I cannot stress how much fun the students had and I just watched them scramble around the room decoding and then moving on the the next clue I’d hidden. Easily adaptable to be longer/more difficult. I used this when teaching a BESD YR 6 class to get them interested in ICT. They absolutely loved learning abour cryptography and creating their own code. Some even used it throughout the term to send each other messages!
