Simple table used to confirm student understanding of weathering & erosion.
Full of a variety of SPaG errors for students to find and correct.
Print on coloured paper for ND students.
Usually at the end of term once I have marked an extended piece of work/assessment, I use this to help students reflect on their work and work out which area they need to focus on to improve next term.
The students will need lots of assistance and sampling the first time you show them this but once they’ve got it, they enjoy picking out specific targets from the list and then on the first lesson back, I get them to write their target at the stop of the page and keep checking their work against it.
Also easy to peer assess future work as students can focus on their peer’s specific target and give richer feedback.

Used as a joiner lesson between introduction to secondary industry and Nike Sweatshops. The student learn about what Ethical Shopping is and how they as consumers have the power to change industry.
They really enjoyed designing their adverts and were very proud when I put them on display. They produced them on computers but some did them on paper, both work as long as it is heavily sampled as many struggle at first with an adverts purpose and layout.
The students will have lots of questions and I usually spend 3 lessons on this in total- 1st- introduce term and explain and assess sample ads/start designing. 2nd- Complete design and finish for homework. 3rd- Peer assess each other’s and link it to the environment.
They then go on to learn about Nike and their understanding of ethical examples really helped them engage and progress.

This lesson is always enjoyable as the students are fascinated by the content and are always up for debating each other!
Depending on the group, this usually involves 1 prep lesson, with lots of videos (links in the ppt) and discussion and then the debate lesson 2- which I usually finish the biosphere/TRF topic with.
Works really well if you choose the mediators/judges based on their personalties and abilities and ask senior staff to join you for it and be a part of one of the teams/judges.
This lesson works for various ages as the question is very open to their own views and your role is to facilitate their ideas.
Enjoy & please review if you download :)
I have used this resource for years 7 and 8 many times. They absolutely love it! Depending on your students, this can be completed in one lesson but is better to use two so that they have time to be more creative and you can set up sound effects and background images for their scenes.
The lesson can be part of a Rivers/Flooding topic and relies on the students having already been taught about the water cycle. It leads into comparing flooding in Bangladesh with flooding in a more economically developed country and to climate change/rising sea levels/global impacts of CC.
The lesson includes peer assessment and and exit card which is differentiated.
You will need Atlases and may need to adapt certain points of the ppt for your students needs. There are a range of video links included which I usually show a few mins of each to give the students as much visual information as possible before they create their scenes.
The groupings are of 4 and the roles should be differentiated and chosen carefully by you- I wouldn’t advise letting them choose!
1/2- Actor roles- Best reserved for the outgoing and confident students- (can be 3 actors)
3- Narrator- Best reserved for students who are fairly shy but also want to participate in the scene but not act, has worked well with Autistic students who want to deliver the important factual information.
4- Director- Best reserved for the quiet/creative/highly academic students who understand the task very well but would never consider acting or narrating in front of the class. Teacher must ensure the rest of the group are listening well to the director and they know it’s their job to combine the rest of the groups ideas into one scene.
I usually give out positive rewards for the groups working the best together. Due to the nature of the play structure, it is important that the groups do not kill off the main characters before the end!!
The students will insist they need so much more time on this task so is important you are very strict on whatever timings you want them to achieve it in. 1 lesson to plan/rehearse, 1 lesson to rehearse and perform.
I hope you enjoy what they come up with!
I used this to finish the cryptography topic with SEN students- once they were practised in decoding and used staff members and humour to engage them in the mystery. I cannot stress how much fun the students had and I just watched them scramble around the room decoding and then moving on the the next clue I’d hidden.
Easily adaptable to be longer/more difficult.

I created this for cover work over two lessons. First the students were asked to mindmap in their books what they already knew about the Amazon and share their ideas.
Then video was on (ALWAYS PUT THE SUBS ON) and the teacher wrote any specialist vocab on the white board and then paused regularly to check understanding and bounce ideas around the room.
The tasks get more difficult as they go on and if I was running the session, tasks 1 & 2 would be done in the lesson and the third could be set for homework as it is well explained and parent friendly.
Really good doc for when you just need a break!
Enjoy!
Designed for a some mixed ability year 8 groups with a vast academic gap and with no prior coasts knowledge. Lots of G+T prompts and SEN friendly scaffolding. Green pen task and a range of activities.
The intro worksheets can be found in my shop- which the students engaged well with and enjoyed just going their own thing and then marking/discussing together during the next lesson.
The PPT contains lessons covering all coasts basics with UK and Australia place knowledge and a range of engaging tasks matched with lots of visuals and games such as taboo to assist with the huge amounts of new vocab.

Thanks and happy teaching :)
This was created for a yr9 group, but could be easily adapted for different key stages and regions of the world.
Great for assessing their research skills, understanding of place and how each place is shaped by the physical geography and historical events.
Document includes clear success criteria, sample timeline & supporting images/links. Includes a peer assessment, if you choose for students to present/share their work.
Students have really enjoyed the freedom of this activity and using gapminder.
The task could cover 3 lessons, with the final lesson being the presentations and peer assessment.
An independent entire lesson that I set as cover work. The students engage well with this activity and enjoy learning about the Panda’s and the vocabulary which is varied to challenge G+T students.
There are 3 separate tasks, which have potential to be peer assessed and shared, the last task is arguing against a quote and with sentence starters success criteria.

I used this when teaching a BESD YR 6 class to get them interested in ICT. They absolutely loved learning abour cryptography and creating their own code.
Some even used it throughout the term to send each other messages!
Highly recommend using cryptography as a SEN ICT topic, lots of great youtube vids and easily linked to history curriculum and school treausure hunts.

I created this when the whole school were spending the day learning about Kenya and I wanted to introduce them to Swahili as the final part of the day was watching the Lion King.
They LOVED using the bags to create weird and wonderful sentences that they could try to translate for each other and mix up as they pleased. It does require some prep as each table needs a bag or you could have one big bag with many more words and get student helpers to assist the picking!

I designed this SoW for LAC SEN students with complex needs and challenging behaviour.
I wanted to give them an opportunity to discuss relevant laws through a highly structured debate style lesson, where they take turns as mediators and judges each week and get given a side to debate for/against.
Listening and impulse control must be demonstrated (by you!) throughout the lesson for the debate to be successful. Everyone must contribute, so it’s important to choose the roles beforehand and ensure your TAs/support staff understand how you want them to assist you.

Every Friday at our LAC Secondary SEN school, we introduced 4 different fruits each week for students to try.
They really enjoyed this activity and were amazed by how many different fruits they’d never seen before and even students who flat out refused to engage initially, were involved and trying new fruits by the end of the first 6 week run.
This worksheet was given at the end of term and worked well as they wanted to compete with each other on how many fruits they could remember. Worksheet contains a gap fill with all the fruits and a drawing activity. We did the first few together and then they completed it independently.

Utilising GAPMINDER-DOLLAR STREET SITE to introduce development topic for SEN KS3 students.
Inclusive, engaging and with embedded key vocab and literacy/IT tasks.
They really enjoyed using the website and I had great feedback from parents about the tasks facilitating interesting discussions about equality and contrasting living standards.
I have left some answers in for you to review then delete in PURPLE.
Could be used in school or independently at home.
Enjoy!
