A lesson which accompanied the students' study of war poetry as propaganda. Students were asked to consider the purpose of a variety of propaganda posters form different points in history before writing an analysis of their impact and effects.

This is a comprehensive scheme of work that contains 26 high quality lessons, a mock, six weeks of homework tasks, weekly assessments and a quotations test. The lessons are differentiated and have been used for the past three years to teach GCSE students.

Weekly homework to accompany the study of 'The Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde' at GCSE. This resource contains three slides to be used each week for seven weeks. One slide contains a list of quotations from that week's reading of the text along with key terms to learn. It is followed by a slide that requires them to fill in the missing words from the quotations, and give definitions for the key terms. There is then a slide with an exam style essay question with a writing guide.

A KS3 vocabulary booklet that is designed to improve students' spelling and vocabulary use. It contains 29 weeks of vocabulary for students to learn, This is set as a weekly homework and they are tested on what they have learnt each week. Students must then write down the correct spelling, along with either a definition or an example of the word in use. The words chosen are taken from the Bedrock Vocabulary lists.

A lesson which explores the way Priestley discredits the character of Mr Birling using historical events.

A comprehensive lesson which provides students with detailed context on the play, before asking them to make links with key moments and quotations from across the text. There is a top grade exemplar for the students to assess their work against.

A comprehensive lesson which provided students with a differentiated task that involves them picking apart a top grade answer based on Eric, before scaffolding their own response.

An unseen poetry lesson on Dorothy Molloy’s ‘Les Grands Seigneurs’ that was used for GCSE English Literature students. The lesson includes an exemplar top grade paragraph.

A comprehensive lesson based on an extract from Anne Frank’s diary. Includes a short example for students to compare their responses to.

A level six exemplar essay used with a high ability Y.11 set. This was used in class with the students to highlight how to effectively hit all the assessment objectives. Students annotated this before discussing it as a class.

An introduction and first paragraph modelled for the pupils in response to the question: ‘Starting with this extract, explore the significance of Lady Macbeth and Macbeth’s reactions to Duncan’s murder.’ The pupils were then asked to complete the second part of the essay.

Thirteen questions with allotted space to answer which tests the pupils’ ability to answer questions based on the required A-Level assessment objectives.

A lesson which focuses on Romeo and Juliet’s language and includes an activity which requires the pupils to act out part of the scene to support their understanding. The lesson culminates in an analytical paragraph with writing guide.

This is a comprehensive set of resources for use at GCSE. Students are asked to learn a set of quotations, a piece of context and one to three key words for homework. This is cumulative. The corresponding tests require the students to retain and revise the information they have learnt in previous weeks. With this bank of knowledge, they have the tools they need to produce high quality essays. A teacher booklet is included with all relevant resources.

A GCSE lesson which includes exemplars of openings to a creative writing piece that students need to rank, and then explain their rankings. Students then use what they learnt to construct their own openings.

A lesson which gets students to look at quotations from different points in the play in order to consider how Priestley has presented his character and why. It culminates in writing an essay.

A comprehensive revision guide that was printed, laminated and turned into mini flip revision guides that fitted into students' pockets. It includes a step-by-step guide on how to approach each question that is followed by an example response. This was distributed to all our Y.11 pupils who found it extremely useful.

A lesson focusing on analysing Romeo and Juliet's language. It includes a writing guide and success criteria for self/peer assessment.

A lesson which builds students' understanding of tone and their ability to use it in their own writing. It includes examples and differentiated tasks.

A test of Macbeth quotations and terms. Students need to fill in the missing key words, as well as note down definitions for key terms. This was used after students had completed my week 1-7 Macbeth key quotations and terms homework, and used as a revision tool throughout the year.
