In this pack Angelina explains all about adjectives and how they can add to sentences. She also shows how children can add the suffixes, er and est. Angelina has some super spelling spells to help children remember the suffix rules. Suitable for both year 1 and year 2.

Beginning of the school year activity. These activities are based on the book 'Oh the Places You'll Go' by Dr Suez. They include an inspirational quotes notebook file and stimulus photos for children to think of their own aspirational dreams. A slideshow for supporting children with quick recall of the graphemes for both the long and short sounds a, e, i, o and u. The graphemes are presented in phoneme families and have the phoneme family character present to support children with recalling the correct phoneme. I remind children of the family name to help them remember e.g. "This is the Grey family all their graphemes make the sound ‘ai’ . The first slides are all short vowel sounds.

Meet the /ure/ family one of the twenty vowel sounds in the English language. Children practise reading and spelling words containing this phoneme using sound spots as support. The end of the lesson children practise these spellings in dictated sentences. Use the phoneme dash and vowel family spelling mats to further support children’s spellings, both available in my shop.
