Objective: to revise numbers and be able to describe quantities of food in Spanish.
The lesson was originally designed for a year 8 class.
This lesson would be good for a cover lesson or a less teacher led lesson. There are a few activities that are simple for students to complete with minimum guidance. I originally used this for a challenging class with many behaviour issues and they worked better with back to back exercises.
Activity 1 - Revision of numbers. Students have to match the Spanish correctly to the numbers. Answers are included.
Activity 2 - Students translate the quantities from Spanish to English. Answers are included. Many were able to distinguish answers quickly with the help of cognates and this was also a good opportunity for students to use dictionaries and work independently.
Activity 3 - A listening exercises where students write the quantities for each food. The listening track is on the slide and all answers are included.
Activity 4 - Reading comprehension with questions in English. Answers are provided.
Activity 5: - Signature dish writing task to summarise all of the above.
Objective: To learn how to form the passé composé of regular -er verbs in French to be able to describe what you did last weekend.
This resource was originally designed for a year 8 French class (their first year of French) but can be used with Year 7 and lower set year 9.
Activity 1 - revision of past tense time phrases and regular -er verbs.
Activity 2 - explanation of the past tense in English then the equivalent in French. This then leads to an explanation of how the passé composé is formed. There is a 4 step guide for students.
Activity 3 - mini whiteboard activity to practise forming the past tense. This gradually gets more difficult.
Activity 4 - A speaking questionnaire activity.
Activity 5 - Putting sentences from the present tense into the past tense
Activity 6 - Translating from English to French.
Activity 7 - A writing task. An example of a good paraphraph is provided to help students identify what they must include.
All answers to exercises are already on the slides.
