Objective: To learn how to describe the weather
This resource was originally designed for a year 9 class but can be used with year 8/10.
Activity 1 - Matching up weather vocabulary
Activity 2 - A weather song from YouTube. The students are provided with some of the lyrics but there are gaps which students must fill in when listening to the song. Some of the lyrics are also on the video, but I showed students the video after they had done the listening activity. The answer and the video link are all on the powerpoint slide.
Activity 3 - Quick recap of the seasons in Spanish. The students then use the seasons and the weather to describe what they do in different types of weather using "CUANDO". This can first be done as a speaking activity then students can write their answers.
Activity 4 - As homework or if students have laptop students can complete a writing exercises to summarise the weather and activities.
Peer assessment is a GREAT way to save timing marking and encourage students to think carefully about their work. This also gives students time to reflect on their mistakes and improve them.
I have attached a few examples of peer assessment forms that I have used in my French/Spanish lessons. The forms can be adapted easily based on the topic you are teaching.
I have used these forms these peer assessment forms in year 7 all the way up to year 11! Super easy to use for students and easy for teachers to instantly see what students have included/not included in their work and work on targets.
A resource designed specifically for Y8 middle and top set. However this can be used across KS3 and KS4.
The first activity includes a short text created on Enrique Iglesias with questions to answer in English. The vocabulary can be differentiated if you would like to use it for KS4. Answers are attached.
The second activity has the Bailando song lyrics and students have to fill in the gaps. There is a box with the missing words which students can choose from. However, this can be taken away if aimed at a more able class. All answers are available on the slides.
Lastly, students can write a short paragraph saying whether they like or dislike the song.
I hope you find it useful. Please leave a review :)
Gracias
