Chapters 23-27 The Murder of Roger Ackroyd Narrative Structure and Plot

(0)
Here we have two lessons in one powerpoint exploring the narrative plot and framing devices that Christie uses. There are slides with tasks on and other slides for students to take notes from. I have also included a document which is like a transcript for the lesson going through the information minus the tasks. The lesson should take two lessons and it is the students considering Christie’s authorial methods whilst also understanding the ending. It is the assumption that students have already read the whole novel. It is going over set-piece ending, framing devices and back to focalisation. Hopefully this will help when teaching.

x9 Lessons The Murder of Roger Ackroyd Agatha Christie AQA Scheme A Level Crime Spec B

Attached is approximately a 9 lesson scheme for the teaching of The Murder of Roger Ackroyd by Agatha Christie. There is also an 11 page revision booklet that takes students through key quotes linking to the crime genre, key character quotes, general quotes and all have tasks underneath them. The booklet also includes specific revision tasks linking to the crime genre, the investigation and Christie’s authorial intent and it also has activities on the back that link to the overview of the text. Some lessons were substituted by reading and annotating the novel, and some lessons were PowerPoint based and some were worksheet based. After the first few chapters, the worksheets assist the analysis of chapters with clue or misdirections and there are some articles to read to analyse Christie’s writing and her lifestyle, considering how these affected the planning and writing of TMORA.

Literacy Booklet 4 - Term 4 2024

This is the FOURTH booklet in my Literacy series! It has been designed for low ability KS4, KS3 (or maybe KS2) students to recap certain skills to cement their knowledge. This was designed for students struggling with skills for in class intervention and used for homework. It does mention Literacy Booklet 1, Literacy Booklet 2 AND Literacy Booklet 3 (available from my store). There are a range of activities in this booklets like: finding the nouns, verbs, adjectives and adverbs in the sentences and describe the images, sorting these 4 techniques into boxes (like the noun task but on a bigger scale), finding verbs within a text and then saying the effect of them, the use of adverbs and considering the effect of them, recap of similes by finding them in a longer text and then further work on metaphors - two pages - and explaining which parts of the text are actual metaphors and then identifying what bits are being compared…and FINALLY (as before) a self assessment at the end.

AQA English Literature GCSE The Emigree Low Ability Lesson

Attached is a PowerPoint lesson that could stretch over 3 hours depending on the ability of your group. It goes over the first ideas of the poem, has an author study sheet, includes a terminology recap, questions for zoomed in parts of the poem and then a discussion about how it compares with other poems. It took one of my lower ability groups just shy of 3 lessons and that includes a live modelled annotated poem from me. They did enjoy it and said it helped them break it down.

One lesson that I use to introduce structure to students studying it for the first time. It really helps and film or short movie clips are a great way of tracking structure and thinking about the ideas surrounding it.

A Christmas Carol Homework Booklet Year 10

A 6 week homework booklet designed for recalling what had been covered in lesson. At no point was this put together to necessarily challenge but more to reiterate and strengthen what had been studied from tasks and the novella. I found it useful and students learnt and recapped ideas easier which then assisted the learning within lesson. Great for going through under a visualiser and peer assessing answers, and for stengthening speaking and listening.
