Over a decade of teaching experience to KS3 and KS4 secondary school pupils, of varying needs and abilities, and 8 years as a Director of Learning for Science. My resources have been produced with passion for the job that I do, making the subject accessible and relevant to all. The majority of my PowerPoints are designed to incorporate successful strategies from Doug Lemov's Teach Like A Champion. I hope my resources will save colleagues precious time in the planning of their own lessons.

Science revision - analysing and interpreting data

(0)
This booklet contains 20 pages of exam questions across all three Science disciplines. Questions are initially annotated to support pupils with how to go about answering the question, followed by scaffolding for answers. Similar style questions then follow for pupils to attempt without the scaffolding (as would be the case in exams). Model answers are also included in places and mark schemes can be found at the end of the document. The following questions styles are covered within the document (which can be printed in booklet form): Scatter graphs e.g. enzyme action, potential difference-current-resistance Bar charts e.g. non-communicable diseases Graphs relating to core practicals e.g. acceleration with trolleys Questions where more than one graph must be referred to e.g. carbon dioxide and temperature over time, the menstrual cycle Tabulated data with questioning related to proportional relationships

Chemistry revision - retention of the essentials

(0)
This animated PowerPoint includes over 20 exam style questions (and answers) that focus on the essentials/key concepts to be learnt for GCSE Chemistry exams (papers 1 and 2). These can be used for general revision and/or as interrupt activities during lessons. They can also be shared with Year 10/11 form tutors for usage during form time revision/intervention.

Ionic and covalent bonding lesson material

4 Resources
The PowerPoint presentations include: Lesson cover slides (objectives, success criteria that link to specification points, starters etc) Full task sheets for each lesson - broken up into lesson stages A variety of lesson supporting material such as mini quizzes, peer assessment tasks, fact finds, concept cartoons etc Other general teaching slides with good imagery I have also included a couple of hand drawn activity sheets that can be used as mini assessments and/or for general teaching purposes. In relation to the concept cartoon, ask pupils to write the names of each character, whether they agree or disagree with the statement and why.

Covalent bonding - lesson material including full lesson stage sheets

(0)
This PowerPoint includes lesson title slides (including objectives and success criteria that directly link to GCSE specification requirements), task sheets for each lesson (to be provided one per pupil) and other supporting teaching slides. The resources contained will support 2-3 lessons worth of teaching on covalent bonding. The task sheets are ideal for providing a swift start to lessons and providing clarity for pupils on all areas to be addressed during the lesson.

This PowerPoint includes lesson title slides (including objectives and success criteria that directly link to GCSE specification requirements), task sheets for each lesson (to be provided one per pupil) and other supporting teaching slides. Amongst these are a concept cartoon, fact sheet and a book-marking review sheet. The resources contained within the presentation will support 5 lessons worth of teaching on ionic bonding. The task sheets are ideal for providing a swift start to lessons and providing clarity for pupils on all areas to be addressed during the lesson.

Science - elements, compounds and mixtures quiz and assessment

(0)
This PowerPoint includes definitions and examples of elements, compounds and mixtures with clear imagery to support. There are several slides to be used to quiz pupils and a worksheet for pupils to apply their knowledge. This can be used to assess pupils on their understanding of key terminology.
Atomic number, relative atomic mass and electron configuration assessment
timothybatestimothybates

Atomic number, relative atomic mass and electron configuration assessment

(0)
This PowerPoint includes 5 slides. The first is an example of how pupils should interpret the relative atomic mass and atomic number, with how this information can be used to determine the numbers of each subatomic particle, electronic structure etc. This if followed by three task sheets and a peer marking sheet. By alternating the task sheets provided to pupils, it can help avoid copying and allow for a more accurate assessment of pupils’ individual understanding.

Biology revision - Body defences and virus life cycle worksheet

(0)
Scanned from my sketchbook. This worksheet provides a scenario with associated imagery for pupils to apply their knowledge of a range of concepts to completing. These include: microscopy calculations, body defences and the life cycle of a virus (lytic and lysogenic). Extension questions can also be given by the teacher with reference to the scenario e.g. What symptoms would Chris experience if this were a _____ virus? How could he be treated? Tips: Replace the names of the characters with pupils in your own class by putting a sticky note over the top and writing in :) After printing, trim the side and bottom for the perfect fit for pupil exercise books :)

Scanned from my sketch book. This activity is a great way to summarise a topic and challenge pupils on a range of concepts covered. Pupils should write the name of each character, decide whether they agree or disagree with the statement and justify their decision. This can be used to promote pupil discussion in the classroom. The imagery in the middle of the sheet can be used to help pupils make their decisions. Tips: Replace the names of the characters with pupils in your own class by putting a sticky note over the top and writing in :) After printing, trim the bottom and side for a perfect fit for pupil exercise books :)
