Convection- high level KS3-KS4

(1)
Presentation that was used for an observation lesson on convection with high ability year 8's. Starter is review of conduction with an animation. Use the sequence cards for the starter to ensure pupils have understood conduction before moving on with convection. Convection explained in terms of density and heat energy. Recommend mentioning gravity to higher ability pupils and how this effects rising and sinking of different density fluids. Recommend potassium permangenate demonstration in a convection tube. Number of differentiated and extension tasks in powerpoint for application of knowledge. Definitions of key words as a plenary. Key words: Convection, 'heat rises' , density, heat energy, vibrate, particles, potassium permangenate, conduction. Please leave a rating and any comments :) cheers
