These resources use Hurricane Katrina to cover the distribution, formation, effects and responses to hurricanes as weather hazards. A wide range of activities and materials are included to allow you to move away from ‘textbook based’ lessons. Designed for the AQA 9-1 GCSE Course. Revision and vocabulary resources also included.
A complete lesson with activity sheets designed for KS3 but suitable for KS4, that include identifying the inner core, outer core, mantle and crust. Convection currents are then covered before the last activity moves onto the differences between continental and oceanic crust. Suitable for Geography tectonic units as well as science courses.

This resource uses the Liverpool Bay Wind Farm a case study of sustainable energy use and how it will help the government to move towards a sustainable energy policy. The resource covers 2 sheets and has a mixture of stimulus material, sorting exercises and GCSE exam questions. Based on the AQA A Globalisation Unit but as it is word based it can easily be edited to fit other exam board requirements, including the new specifications.

It considers managing water supply, new agricultural methods, flood defences and artificial glaciers. Included is an active starter activity to engage the students immediately. Support activity sheets to summarise the key learning or support weaker students are also included . Differentiated exam questions are also included. The lesson makes reference to the Hodder or Oxford textbooks for the main activity as the exam board have specified the content, but other sources would work just as well. Separate main activities have been included depending on which text you have, simply choose the activity that fits your style or group.

The Somerset Levels makes a great example due to the prolonged nature of the event and multiple contributing factors. The emphasis is on getting students to engage with the activities and demonstrate understanding. Resource sheets include summary activities and allow students to consolidate their learning.
