After teaching 11 - 13 year old students for 7 years, I decided to stay at home when my second child was born. I used my Remedial qualification to assist those who struggled with Math and English to give them the extra boost. I believe in creating a love for learning in students by making it fun and interactive.

Factors Clip Cards

I created this set of Factors Clip Cards to use as an extra math resource. This resource can be used as an introduction activity, or as a time filler for those who finish early. Children look at the front of the card and clip pegs or paper clips on all the numbers which are factors of the middle number. They then turn the card over and the answers are in color so they can correct themselves. I have used a subtle Spring theme, allowing these cards to be perfect for Spring but also for the rest of the year as well. Perfect Tense (I Have... Who Has?)
ToLoveLearningToLoveLearning

Perfect Tense (I Have... Who Has?)

(0)
“I Have... ‘Who Has?” is an interactive activity which includes the whole class. Each student gets a card. Hand all 32 cards out which may mean that some students get two cards. This will ensure that the full loop can be completed. Choose a student to start (I often start the loop to set the example). The person to start, reads their “Who Has?” sentence. The rest of the students listen to the sentence and the required tense. They then check their “I Have” sentences for the correct answer. Once they read their answer out and it is determined to be the correct answer, they then read their “Who Has?” sentence. And so the loop continues. For example: First person reads: “Who Has - Tom had liked football. In Perfect Present?” Person with the answer reads: “ I have – Tom has liked football.” “Who Has ...” You may be interested in my other Perfect Tense products. Students each get a board and use a white board marker or counters to cover the spaces which are called out. Thirty ‘question cards’ have been included. These questions are presented in two ways, namely: “What is the comparative/superlative version of the following adjective…?” Or “Fill the correct version of the adjective in the given sentence: My mom is (cheerful) than my dad.” A memorandum has also been included to check question card answers if it is needed. This could also mean that the question cards can be used as task cards for further revision. Vocabulary and Text Development Use “A Week of Wordy Wisdom” to create a ‘focus topic’ daily to help grow your students. The week is made up of: Motivational Monday – Discuss the quote or phrase with students to give them something to think about and apply to their everyday living and how they deal with other people around them. Proverb for Tuesday – Slowly introduce students to proverbs by focusing on regular ones once a week. Word for Wednesday – This might not be a new word for some students but encourage the use and spelling and ability to read the word by the following week. There are six words included, ranging in abilitly from Kindergarten to Fifth grade... The Kindergarten words are Sight words from the Dolch Pre Primer list to offer reinforcement. Think-about-it Thursday – This is a fun fact for students to share with those around them. Funny Friday – End the week with a joke. Be sure to download Week 8 for FREE. Each week does not follow on from the next so can be used in any order. Don’t forget to stop by my blog (Learning with Sunflower Smiles) for additional activity ideas.
