Also included are the markschemes (slightly different depending on if you do it as a speaking or a writing activity) which will enable you to grade students up to grade 9. There is also a slide to help you mark it so that you can write, e.g. “T4, T9” to feedback on students’ improvement targets. Students can then work on these in the next lesson by using the PowerPoint presentation for lesson 15, which explains to students what they need to do to improve the work and re-write it. A 21-slide PowerPoint presentation which starts with a Do Now activity covering German topics covered so far. It then recaps two ways to state opinions (“Ich liebe/mag/hasse…” and “Ich finde es…”) before introducing a third way: “am liebsten”/“lieber”/"(gar) (nicht) (sehr) gern". There is then a listening activity based on “Ich finde…” sentences and a video about football. After that is a “spot the mistakes” activity and a conversation to practise in pairs. There is then a translation into English and into German and then information on why giving opinions and reasons is important (in the context of the GCSE mark scheme). There are some comprehension activities to see the “favourite” vocab in action, and then information about saying “my”, “your”, “his” and “her”. It is followed by a writing activity for students to practise the new grammar. It ends with a tangled translation, in which students need to separate the German and the English and write both out fully. At the end is a recap of key facts. A 13-slide PowerPoint presentation which starts with a Do Now activity covering German topics covered so far. It starts with a short “hook” video about “Sommerrodeln” and asks students to form their opinion on it. There is then a match-up activity for adventure sports, like mountain biking, white water rafting, canoing etc. There is then a short explanation of the word “man” and “Man kann…” is introduced. Students are asked to form sentences using “man kann”. The four seasons are then introduced and students are asked to put these into more “man kann” sentences. It ends with a creative piece of work, in which students are invited to make a brochure for an adventure centre to practise the “man kann” sentences with adventure sports, plus their opinions.
