This is the first week of a unit of year 2 English work designed to take you through the Autumn term. It covers all aspects of English: GaPS (SPaG), Reading and Writing. The work is all in a workbook that can be used in its entirety, or as individual sheets. There is a supporting PowerPoint presentation and an answer book included. Table of Workbook Contents Spelling words activities (-dge suffix). Punctuation activities (Proper Nouns). Grammar activities (The Present and Past tenses) Reading Comprehension (The Gunpowder Plot) Letter writing activity based on the reading comprehension. (The subsequent weeks will be available to buy as a complete unit of work up until the Christmas break.)

Two texts and reading comprehension questions with answers that can be used together or separately to practise comprehension skills and for the Key Stage 1 SATS. Texts are a fiction story (a version of the Ugly Duckling) and a non-fiction text about electricity. This could also be used a practice test for pupils to sit in class. Questions are based on the 2016 SATS paper and government sample materials.

3 texts and questions loosely based around the theme of Robin Hood. Texts are: 1. The first chapter of an original story which is set in the time of Robin Hood. (Please note, this does not re-tell the legend of Robin Hood). 2. A non-fiction text about Robin Hood 3. A newspaper article, linked to the story. Questions are based on the year 6 SATS Reading paper 2016 and sample government materials. This is the first instalment in a series of reading comprehensions to follow.

Spelling sheets for revision for the year 6 SATS spelling sheets. Bronze (Below expected) and Silver (At expected) are sentences and multiple choice options to choose the correct spelling. Gold (Exceeding expected) requires pupils to identify and correct misspelt words.
