PRIMARY SPANISH KS2 SPANISH ESPAÑOL PARA NIÑOS SPANISH FOR CHILDREN TWO SETS OF TEN WORD SEARCHES WITH ANSWER KEYS @ £2.50 EACH Files are non-editable in a zipped format. Please read the Terms of Use carefully: this resource is copyright, all rights reserved. It may not be copied, rewritten, shared or distributed outside your own classroom in any way. The license for purchase is a single-user license only. The focus is on key beginner Spanish vocabulary: = los días de la semana en español : days of the week in Spanish = los meses y las estaciones del año en español : months & seasons of the year in Spanish Sopas de letras are a fabulous way of encouraging learners to engage with the written word in Spanish, refreshing and reinforcing language as they complete the grids. This mini-bundle features two sets of 10 differentiated word searches & answer keys, with each consecutive grid increasing in challenge. In each set, there are 5 Spanish to Spanish grids, where students are prompted with Spanish words, and look for them in Spanish in the grid. For additional consolidation, each grid also features an English word list that they have to complete, really putting their knowledge to the test. There are also 5 English to Spanish grids, where the prompt words are given in English, and students have to find the Spanish equivalent in the grid. For additional consolidation and practice in writing in Spanish, they also complete the Spanish word list on each page. Students can tell in which direction the words are written by looking at the arrow key on each grid. There is an answer grid for each word search, so that learners can check their answers - or use for a little extra help if they need it. Answer keys are really essential - they offer learners an additional opportunity to engage with language, and they genuinely enjoy ‘correcting’ their own, and particularly each others’ work. They’re a great teacher time-saver too, which is always a good thing! This kind of activity is really versatile too - I use as for cover lessons, as starters, refreshers, plenaries or fun-time fillers at any time during the school year, as well as when I’m focusing on days, months and seasons in Spanish. Please read the Terms of use carefully: this resource is copyright, all rights reserved. It may not be copied, rewritten, shared or distributed outside your own classroom in any way. The license for purchase is a single-user license only. Perfect for developing Spanish speaking skills - there are 100 question and answer cards and a reference book focusing on beginning and building conversation. They’re also great for multi-skill language learning, giving students structured talk opportunities and encouraging them to listen, read and write. They’re ideal for independent learning, and perfect for pair and small-group work. The reference book includes all the questions and answers written out in Spanish. It’s an essential learning support resources for my students, who use it as a general writing frame to guide and inform their own creative writing. It’s really useful for mini-translation, whole-group pronunciation and reading-out loud practice too. We use the notes and next steps template to reflect on learning, what we might reasonably do to progress learning, and to inform and support whole-group discussion about learning in general. The question and answer writing card templates give students a great opportunity to apply Spanish practically and creatively, as they put together both questions and answers for each other. This is a great team activity too, and really popular with my students. The cards are really versatile, and work well in lots of different learning contexts, such as***independent learning time, home learning, revision and exam prep, and cover lessons***. There are also lots of other games and activities students can play - I’ve described how to play several you can start with that have been really successful with my learners. PRIMARY SPANISH VEGETABLES KS2 SPANISH VEGETABLES KS3 SPANISH VEGETABLES YEAR 7 SPANISH VEGETABLES WORD SEARCHES The resource is non-editable in a zipped format. The license for purchase is a single-user license only - the resource is copyright, all rights reserved - it may not be copied, rewritten, amended, shared or distributed in any way - please read the Terms of Use. Sopas de Letras are a fabulous way of encouraging learners to engage with the written word in Spanish, refreshing and reinforcing language as they complete the grids. This set features ten differentiated word searches, focusing on a range of vegetables in Spanish, with each consecutive grid increasing in challenge. The fruits include***masculine, feminine, singular and plural***, with a blend of definite and indefinite articles - this really helps students think a little more laterally about language, and their new vocabulary - they may learn la patata, and it’s useful to give students opportunity to think about grammatical concepts, and how la becomes una for example. I’ve selected high-frequency vegetables, such as potato or cabbage, and also vegetables which may be new to some learners, such as asparagus or artichoke. There are a range of phonemes and sounds too, such as the ***letter j (ajo)***, which is a sound particular to Spanish, and the letter ñ (champiñones), as the tilde + n plays a very important role in Spanish pronunciation. There are 5 Spanish to Spanish grids, labelled with carrots, where learners are prompted with the Spanish words, and look for them in Spanish in the grid. For additional consolidation and practice, each grid also features an English word list that they have to complete, really putting their knowledge to the test. There are also 5 English to Spanish grids, labelled with a pepper, where the prompt words are given in English, and learners have to find the Spanish equivalent in the grid. For additional consolidation and practice in writing and spelling in Spanish, they also complete the Spanish word list on each page. Learners can tell in which direction the words are written by looking at the arrow key on each grid. There is an answer grid for each word search, so that learners can check their answers, or use for a little extra help if they need it. The word searches are in landscape format, as I’ve found this to be the best format for beginner language learners - language is very clear and accessible. KS3 GERMAN SPEAKING SKILLS KS4 GERMAN SPEAKING SKILLS GCSE GERMAN SPEAKING SKILLS KS5 GERMAN SPEAKING SKILLS ALEVEL GERMAN SPEAKING SKILLS TWO SETS OF 100 GERMAN CONVERSATION STARTERS @ £3.75 EACH Files are non-editable in a zipped format. The resource is copyright, all rights reserved. It may not be copied, rewritten, amended, shared or distributed outside your own classroom in any way. The license for purchase is a single-user license only. Please read the Terms of Use. Speaking is a language skill that learners tend to find very challenging, and increased engagement with language that requires them to both reproduce language they are already familiar with, and to be creative with that language in order to produce new language is integral to successful language learning. The questions focus largely on the present tense, with some examples of the past tenses. I include tenses we may not have formally covered, as the activity is not solely about practising language, but also about actively learning it. I encourage students to look for cues and clues in the questions themselves, and this certainly enables them to engage with new or unknown language successfully, and to progress in their learning. Each card has an image: some of these are specific visual prompts to help students infer meaning; some are more generic images. I do use images as much as possible with this kind of activity, not only to provide the prompt, but also to add to the visual appeal of it, which is a real motivator for learning. I remind students that it is not necessary to tell the truth - the purpose is to create and produce accurate and realistic language. Students can prepare their responses in as much detail as possible on the accompanying planning sheet, remembering that these are conversation starters, so that once they have responded, they should then say something to keep the conversation going. As a whole-group activity, distribute the cards amongst your students, one or several. Ideally, they should walk around the classroom, asking questions, and swapping cards. For pair or small-group work, students can work in a designated area. This really helps them focus closely on the language, and helps learners who are slightly less confident working with a larger group. The starters broadly address the following themes: Set 1: personal information : family & routines at home : hobbies & free time : likes & dislikes : local environment : food & drink school & studies : sport & healthy living countries & languages : weather & seasons Set 2: music : film & television literature & culture : personal life, information & preferences : leisure & free time : health & well-being : history & society : recent & current events : travel, tourism & holidays technology & social media : likes & dislikes local environment : environmental & social issues : education & studies Have a browse in my store for more German resources, with special offer bundles, German resource boxes, and lots of freebies. This set of Spanish conversation starters features 100 starters in question format, suitable for KS3 Spanish to KS4 Spanish students. Speaking is a language skill that learners tend to find very challenging, and increased engagement with language that requires them to both reproduce language they are already familiar with, and to be creative with that language in order to produce new language is integral to successful language learning. The questions focus largely on the present tense, with some examples of tenses such as preterite and conditional. I like to include tenses we may not have formally covered, as the activity is not solely about practising language, but also about actively learning it. I encourage students to look for cues and clues in the questions themselves, and this certainly enables them to engage with new or unknown language successfully, and to progress in their learning. Questions formats are varied, to ensure maximum opportunity to work with the different ways to ask questions in Spanish. Some questions seek to elicit very similar information, but are asked in different language: this avoids learners simply parroting learned responses to fixed prompts. They may not be copied, rewritten, amended, shared or distributed outside your own classroom in any way. The license for purchase is a single-user license only. Please read the Terms of Use. These activities really do help to create a lively language learning environment for young learners of French, and offer a popular alternative to more traditional, teacher-led***information about France*** lessons. Children can develop their knowledge of the francophone world - and through guided whole-group discussion - their home / host country too, in a cooperative, communicative and interactive way, in part independently of the teacher. There is a bonus multi-focus on listening, speaking, pronunciation, reading, writing and spelling, and is a great way of aligning language learning with developing literacy skills in English. The resource comprises the following non-editable files: 20 facts cards - there are four facts in each of the following topic groups:geography, country, landmarks, language and food. There are blank templates for children to research and create their own facts cards for each other, and providing them with opportunity to apply learning and knowledge creatively. Over the school year, children should regularly add to their facts cards, which in time creates a fabulous bank of facts about France. Facts recording sheet challenge level 1 - there are two options: either two or four fact recording boxes per page. Children read their selected facts, and copy the information in the boxes. Facts recording sheet challenge level 2 - there are also two options: two or four fact recording boxes in this challenge level. However, there is a more open-ended task: responding to the question “What did you learn?”. This requires children to read their fact card, process the information, and then recreate it in their own words, describing the fact in the context of what they have learned. 24 question / comprehension cards — the questions have a differentiated range of challenge, and are based on the knowledge developed through the whole-group presentation and discussion, and the facts cards. There are some independent research questions, which I use as a springboard for further discussion based on children’s own developing interests about France. There are blank templates here too - creating questions is a great way to think about and apply knowledge and learning. question / comprehension cards recording sheet whole-group facts presentation & discussion MERCI BEACOUP, BON APPRENTISSAGE ET BON VOYAGE !

FRENCH PERFECT TENSE CONJUGATION PRACTICE

(0)
KS3 KS4 GCSE FRENCH VERBS PERFECT TENSE CONJUGATION PRACTICE FOCUS ON 25 HIGH-FREQUENCY REGULAR & IRREGULAR FRENCH VERBS My students really like this kind of grammar activity, as they like to work and learn independently, which is a successful way of varying teaching and learning methodologies - I’ve found it’s really important to avoid predominantly teacher-led learning in the languages classroom. There are 150 conjugations across 3 differentiated conjugation challenges, with full answer key. I use these kinds of workbooks in lots of different ways: for practice during the introduction phase, for independent choice in class time, for homework, for practice and revision during holidays and at return to class, and for cover lessons - they’re really versatile, and ideal for advanced KS3 French and KS4 French students who are beginning to work with more complex language and texts. The workbooks focus on the mechanics of conjugation, rather than usage, and I’ve found that when my students are able to provide the correct conjugation very quickly, and out of a specific context, they feel really confident that their conjugation skills are developing well. The resource is structured as follows: Two alphabetical verb reference lists: French-English and English-French. Three conjugation challenges, each with 50 individual conjugations: Conjugation Challenge 1: each verb conjugated in French across a range of pronouns, with students writing the corresponding English verb conjugation. Conjugation Challenge 2: gives the infinitive of each verb in French, specifying the target pronoun. Students write the corresponding verb conjugation in French. Conjugation Challenge 3: students write the corresponding French verb conjugation, and its infinitive, from an English prompt. Notes and Next Steps template which students visit regularly - it really does encourage them to think about where they are now, how confident they feel, and what they might need to work on a little more to be absolutely sure of their conjugation skills. answer key Have a browse in my store for more French grammar activities, and a wide range of other French teaching and learning materials, with special offer bundles and lots of freebies too! FRENCH IMPERFECT TENSE CONJUGATION PRACTICE

KS3 FRENCH KS4 FRENCH GCSE FRENCH IMPERFECT TENSE CONJUGATION PRACTICE FOCUSING ON 25 HIGH-FREQUENCY FRENCH VERBS My students really like this kind of grammar activity, as they like to work and learn independently, which is a successful way of varying teaching and learning methodologies - I’ve found it’s really important to avoid predominantly teacher-led learning in the languages classroom. There are 150 conjugations across 3 differentiated conjugation challenges with a full answer key and verb lists. I use these kinds of workbooks in lots of different ways: for practice during the introduction phase, for independent choice in class time, for homework, for practice and revision during vacation and at return to class, and for cover lessons - they’re really versatile, and ideal for advanced KS3 French into KS4 French students who want to practice and refresh their conjugation skills in French, and are working with more complex language and texts which include a range of tenses. Though the workbook focuses solely on the correct conjugation of verbs, and does not look at word order in the context of full sentences, there are fixed conjugation patterns that students can learn, recognize and apply, ensuring that their spoken and written French is accurate, and that their understanding of French across the skills of listening, speaking, reading and writing is robust. Students become very familiar and confident the more they work with conjugation, and these quick conjugations certainly help to embed that successfully. FRENCH CHRISTMAS WORD SEARCH FREEBIE

PRIMARY FRENCH KS3 CHRISTMAS WORD SEARCH FREEBIE Mots Cachés are a fabulous way of encouraging students to engage with the written word in French, refreshing and reinforcing language as they complete the grids. This freebie word search features fourteen French Christmas words, which helps to develop students’ awareness of some Francohphone Christmas traditions and figures, such as Saint Nicholas and Père Fouettard. I use this as a prompt to stimulate discussion about French Christmas practices and customs, and we talk about what students know about other Christmas traditions around the world. The nouns feature masculine and feminine, singular and plural and both definite and indefinite articles, which is a great way of working on and consolidating those grammatical concepts too. I always give answer keys to my word searches - that works really well in terms of helping students work and learn independently together without me, and gives them even more opportunity to engage with French. They’re a great teacher time-saver too, which is always a bonus! I use word searches as starters, refreshers, plenaries or fun-time fillers at any time during the Christmas season, not only if I’m introducing French Christmas vocabulary. FRENCH NUMBERS 0-21 WORD WALL FREEBIE

PRIMARY FRENCH KS2 FRENCH NUMBERS 0-21 WORD WALL It’s easy to create an instant introduction to French Numbers 0-21 with this set of word wall cards, featuring beginning numbers that I like to share with my young learners of French. They’re really useful during the introduction phase, and we also use them for developing language skills and awareness in general. We like to do number guessing and calculation games at regular intervals too. There are two cards per 8.5 x 11 (A4) page in landscape format - the words are definitely big enough for children to be able to read - we do lots of guessing and mental math games, using these as a visual prompt. Although I tend to get my students to prepare the word wall header, I’ve included one here, as we often have both on our wall. There are two backgrounds to choose from - French flag or black wave. The cards to look great in colour, but are still really nice if you prefer to print in B&W to keep costs down. I definitely recommend that you print on card stock and/or laminate as it’s definitely worth the extra prep time and expense. The word wall cards hang really nicely, and they remain in excellent condition for a long time, so you’ll be able to use the***French Numbers Word Wall*** for years. ENGLISH FOR FRENCH SPEAKERS VERBS LIST FREEBIE #3

(5)
ANGLAIS LANGUE SECONDE ESL EFL ENGLISH COMMON VERBS FOR FRENCH-SPEAKING LEARNERS OF ENGLISH English language verb reference resource for French-speaking students focusing on high-frequency English verbs. I’ve found that the lists are a great learning support resource, and they’re really popular with students too. They work well when students keep them carefully in learning files or folders for current and future reference, either in class or at home. They also work well printed double-sided and laminated for small-group work in class. This list is a third collection of 25 high-frequency English verbs that students will meet in the beginning to intermediate stages of English learning programs. They are common English verbs, so they will see, hear and use the verbs regularly in daily life. They include regular and irregular verbs, and are all in the infinitive form - it’s an important step in learning is to ensure that students quickly develop a useful vocabulary bank, are able to recognize English verbs, and are confident with the meaning of those verbs in French - at that point they can move on to looking at conjugation and using the verbs in a communicative and practical context. Students shouldn’t take on the task of learning 25 verbs all at once though - this is more of a longer-term reference resource that students can use to audit their developing English verb vocabulary - embedding the verbs into long-term memory will come through frequent usage. There are two alphabetical lists - one English-French, and one French-English, as I’ve found that beginner language students prefer to have both as a reference resource. There are two backgrounds to choose from - England flag (which looks good as grammar / vocabulary display), and black wave - students tell me that this makes vocab lists more visually appealing, which is really useful when they’ve got a lot of vocab to work through and learn.
