Files are non-editable in a zipped format. It may not be copied, rewritten, shared or distributed outside your own classroom in any way. The license for purchase is a single-use license only. Please read the Terms of Use carefully. These challenge cards focus on conjugating***irregular German verbs in the present tense.*** They are aimed at upper KS3 German and KS4 German students. The differentiated questions have a multi-skill focus on listening, speaking, pronunciation, reading and spelling. They’re great for helping students familiarize themselves with, and develop competence in, speaking, reading, writing and spelling in German in general, and certainly in conjugating irregular German verbs in the present tense in particular. The questions range in complexity and challenge, and some call upon prior and new knowledge too, helping students make links and build bridges in their learning. There may be some vocabulary that students are not familiar with - these questions give them the opportunity to learn and apply new language too. Other grammatical concepts are addressed in the questions too, such as gender agreement, direct and indirect objects, personal pronouns and word order in German. The set comprises the following non-editable files: = 48 differentiated question cards*, 4 per A4 (8.5 x 11) paper, laminate if possible, as they’re more learner-friendly, and remain in excellent condition for years = answer key & answer recording sheet: we use the recording sheet for more formal assessment purposes; students generally use their class workbooks to note responses, saving both prep time and expense Have a browse in my store for more German resources, including special offer bundles and freebies. GCSE GERMAN KS4 GERMAN KS3 GERMAN VERBS CARDS Files are non-editable in a zipped format. The resource is copyright, all rights reserved. It may not be copied, rewritten, amended, shared or distributed outside your own classroom in any way. The license for purchase is a single-user license only. Please read the Terms of Use carefully. 99 high-frequency German verbs with 99 matching English verbs cards really do help to create a lively language learning environment, ideal for advanced beginner German learners, as they prepare to move into and work confidently at intermediate German level. The games and activities are a really successful alternative to more traditional 'vocabulary drilling' exercises. Students can work independently of the teacher, challenging themselves and each other in their best German accent to find all the matching verbs cards in German and English. The card templates allow students to apply their German knowledge practically and creatively, as they put together mini-quiz cards for each other, preferably from memory. There are three differentiated recall challenges: Written Recall Challenge One students write the English verbs from a German prompt, with all the verbs in alphabetical order, German-English. Written Recall Challenge Two again, students write the verbs in English from a German prompt, but the German verbs are now in random, rather than alphabetical order. Language learners often learn or are familiar with new vocabulary in a particular order, so it increases the recall challenge by changing that order. Written Recall Challenge Three the final challenge requires students to write the corresponding German verb from an English prompt. The English verbs are also in random order. This challenge really helps with vocabulary recall, which is quite challenging when vocabulary does not appear in the context of a sentence. It's really useful for spelling in German too. SPANISH VEGETABLES BINGO GAMES #1

PRIMARY SPANISH KS3 SPANISH VEGETABLES BINGO GAMES 100 DIFFERENTIATED BINGO GRIDS AND 40 CALLING CARDS Bingo games are perfect for language learning, and they’re really easy to differentiate. All my students, regardless of age, find playing the games a great way of consolidating their Spanish vocabulary, and developing their Spanish language skills in general - bingo is absolutely perfect for speaking, listening, reading, writing and spelling. This set includes 100 differentiated bingo grids and 40 calling cards - 20 in Spanish, and 20 in English - I always play with English calling cards too, as I’ve found it’s a really great way of further consolidating vocabulary - students have to focus carefully on the language ‘switch’, and translate what they hear really quickly. It’s definitely useful to have calling cards, so that you can keep track of what you’re calling out, and it also lets students be the bingo caller too, meaning they can play entirely independently of the teacher. There are twelve Spanish vegetables in masculine, feminine, singular & plural in this set: the mushrooms the cauliflower thee carrots the lettuce the cucumber the tomato the cabbage the potatoes the garlic the broccoli the peas the onions I differentiate my bingo games by using picture-only cards, which are great for general vocabulary consolidation and recall, and listening skills. There are 40 9-square grids in total, and there’s a set of color (which I sometimes laminate so that I can just get them out whenever I need to - make sure students have wipe-clean pens on their tables!). I’ve also included the same grids in black and white - simply print these out. I sometimes give out pages with four grids on, and let students choose which order they play the grids in - they have multiple pages - or sometimes, I get the students to cut out the grids, place them in a small bowl or similar on tables and they then randomly choose grids - depending on the size of your class, you will definitely have several winners per game. The grids are designed for all the squares to be crossed off in order to win the game. I also use word-only grids to help students focus more on their reading skills, so I’ve included 40 Spanish word-only 9-square grids, 4 per page (10 pages). There are 20 mixed word and picture grids are ideal for additional challenge and differentiation. GERMAN IMPERFECT TENSE CONJUGATION PRACTICE

(0)
GCSE GERMAN KS3 GERMAN KS4 GERMAN IMPERFECT TENSE 25 high-frequency German verbs in the imperfect tense. The quick conjugations have always been really popular with my students, who find them a great way of practising, reinforcing and revising how to conjugate essential verbs in German. I’ve used them in a range of contexts too, such as independent work either in class time or at home, holiday refresher work, or individual activities for cover lessons. I give my students regular opportunities to work through the same conjugations until they feel confident about how German conjugation ‘works’, and are able to recognize patterns and so predict conjugation accurately. The workbook is structured as follows: Two alphabetical verb reference lists: German-English and English-German. Three conjugation challenges, each with 50 individual conjugations: Conjugation Challenge 1: each verb conjugated in German across a range of pronouns, with students writing the corresponding English verb conjugation. Conjugation Challenge 2: gives the infinitive of each verb in German, specifying the target pronoun. Students write the corresponding verb conjugation in German. Conjugation Challenge 3: students write the corresponding German verb conjugation, and its infinitive, from an English prompt. Notes and Next Steps sheet, which encourages students to think about how their understanding of German conjugation works, what progress they have made, what their targets for improvement might realistically be, and what they might reasonably do in order to meet those targets. We also use it to guide and inform whole-group discussion about learning and progress in general, which is a really popular and effective activity too. It’s also a great place to note any additional high-frequency verbs that students learn, and this helps to build up a really strong verb vocabulary bank. answer key Try this free conjugation sampler to see if it’s the kind of learning activity that will work well for your students: GERMAN CONJUGATION PRACTICE FREE SAMPLER https://www.tes.com/teaching-resource/german-conjugation-practice-sampler-12154187 Have a browse in my store for more German grammar activities, and a wide range of other German teaching and learning resources, with special offer bundles, resource boxes, and lots of freebies too! GERMAN ADJECTIVES FOR GCSE RECALL WORKBOOK #3

(1)
GCSE GERMAN A LEVEL GERMAN ADJECTIVES 34-page written recall workbook featuring 400 German adjectives, English-German, with two written recall challenges. My students find it really useful as a year-round written recall workbook, and particularly as we approach exam time - they generally like to work at their own pace, either in class time or at home. The level is roughly intermediate German preparing to move into advanced German. It's useful for advanced beginner German students to provide a language road map with learning goals, outlining the adjectives they should ideally know by a specific stage in their learning. It's also useful for intermediate German students who are working with more complex language and texts, including authentic resources, and advanced German students as a vocabulary audit and enrichment. For UK teachers, the level is roughly GCSE / Standard / age 16 examinations moving into advanced level, all examination boards (AQA, Edexcel, Eduqas, SQA). There are two written recall challenges in the workbook: Written Recall Challenge One all four hundred adjectives in alphabetical order: students are prompted for the German translation of an English adjective Written Recall Challenge Two this challenge also requires students to write the German translation from an English prompt, but the adjectives are in random, rather than alphabetical order, which also helps develop competence in spelling in German. Students may well have learnt certain sets of adjectives in a particular order originally, so it's a really good idea to check recall in random order. Files are non-editable in a zipped format. GCSE GERMAN KS4 GERMAN KS3 GERMAN CONDITIONAL TENSE REFLEXIVE VERBS CONJUGATION PRACTICE 25 high-frequency German reflexive verbs, including a selection of some not essentially reflexive, such as sich kaufen, which is useful for practising the dative reflexive pronoun, 150 conjugation questions, 3 differentiated challenges, answer keys ideal for advanced KS3 German and KS4 German students who are beginning to work with compound sentences and longer texts, and generally developing their knowledge and understanding of conjugation and tense in German. The workbook focuses on the correct conjugation of verbs, rather than usage, but I definitely find it useful to remind students of a number of things when focusing on or revising tense and verb conjugation. For example, although usage of the conditional tense in both English and German is largely similar, there are some differences, notably the position of the notably the position of the accompanying key verb in the infinitive form at the end of the clause or sentence, rather than directly following the auxiliary, and with reflexive verbs, the correct positioning of the reflexive pronoun. Students also need to have a good grasp of the relevant auxiliary, in this case werden in the conditional tense. Conjugating werden in the conditional tense, and placing it together with the accompanying verb in the infinitive form is a fixed pattern, with which students become very familiar and confident the more they work with conjugation in this tense. GERMAN IRREGULAR VERBS FUTURE TENSE

(0)
GCSE GERMAN KSS3 GERMAN KS4 GERMAN FUTURE TENSE CONJUGATION PRACTICE 25 high-frequency irregular German verbs, 150 conjugation questions, 3 differentiated challenges, answer keys and verb lists ideal for advanced KS3 German students who are beginning to work with compound sentences and longer texts, and generally developing their knowledge and understanding of conjugation and tense in German. My students really like this kind of grammar activity, as they like to work and learn independently, which is a successful way of varying teaching and learning methodologies - I’ve found it’s really important to avoid predominantly teacher-led learning in the languages classroom. I tend to introduce the future tense along with the conditional tense, as I’ve found this can help students consolidate the pattern of conjugation very quickly, and it also helps them understand the distinction between will and would, particularly the fine distinction between the notion of intent in both German and English. Though the workbook focuses solely on the correct conjugation of verbs, and does not look at word order in the context of full sentences, there are fixed conjugation patterns that students can learn, recognize and apply, ensuring that their spoken and written German is accurate, and that their understanding of German across the skills of listening, speaking, reading and writing is robust. The resource has the following structure: Two alphabetical verb reference lists: German-English and English-German. Three conjugation challenges, each with 50 individual conjugations: Conjugation Challenge 1: each verb conjugated in German across a range of pronouns, with students writing the corresponding English verb conjugation. GERMAN CONDITIONAL PERFECT TENSE CONJUGATION PRACTICE

KS5 GERMAN ALEVEL GERMAN ADVANCED GERMAN CONDITIONAL PERFECT TENSE 25 high-frequency German verbs, 150 conjugation questions, 3 differentiated conjugation challenges, answer key & verbs lists, ideal for KS5 German and advanced German students who have a sound understanding of conjugation and tense in German, are working regularly with the notion of a range of tenses and mood in German, and have a solid grasp of verbs that are conjugated with either haben or sein in the relevant tenses. It’s actually really useful to introduce the conditional perfect tense in German fairly closely with the future perfect tense, as the patterns are identical, other than the auxiliary tense, and it allows students to compare and contrast the tenses, and to practice both fairly simultaneously - in my experience, students do not confuse or mix up the tenses when they’re learning and using them together. The workbook focuses on the correct conjugation of verbs, rather than usage. Grammar books are not consistent with grammatical terminology, so in this context, the conditional perfect is I would have done or I would have been for example. I’ve used hätte & past participle or wäre & past participle as ich würde gemacht haben or ich würde gewesen sein are no longer commonly used in the way that ich hätte gemacht or ich wäre gewesen is for example. The conjugation is structured in the same way as the Konjunktiv II Plusquamperfekt, which is often called the pluperfect subjunctive in English grammatical terminology, though of course, the usage is different. It’s actually really useful to introduce the pluperfect tense in German fairly closely with the perfect tense, as the patterns are identical, other than the auxiliary tense, and it allows students to compare and contrast the tenses, and to practice both fairly simultaneously - in my experience, students do not confuse or mix up the tenses when they’re learning and using them together. I find it useful to remind students of a number of things when focusing on or revising tense and verb conjugation. For example with the pluperfect tense, students need to have a good grasp of the relevant auxiliary in the imperfect tense, and to get used to ensuring that the past participle is situated at the end of the clause or sentence. FRENCH CHRISTMAS WORD SEARCH FREEBIE

PRIMARY FRENCH KS3 CHRISTMAS WORD SEARCH FREEBIE Mots Cachés are a fabulous way of encouraging students to engage with the written word in French, refreshing and reinforcing language as they complete the grids. This freebie word search features fourteen French Christmas words, which helps to develop students’ awareness of some Francohphone Christmas traditions and figures, such as Saint Nicholas and Père Fouettard. I use this as a prompt to stimulate discussion about French Christmas practices and customs, and we talk about what students know about other Christmas traditions around the world. The nouns feature masculine and feminine, singular and plural and both definite and indefinite articles, which is a great way of working on and consolidating those grammatical concepts too. I always give answer keys to my word searches - that works really well in terms of helping students work and learn independently together without me, and gives them even more opportunity to engage with French. They’re a great teacher time-saver too, which is always a bonus! I use word searches as starters, refreshers, plenaries or fun-time fillers at any time during the Christmas season, not only if I’m introducing French Christmas vocabulary. Have a browse in my store for more French Christmas resources, with lots of freebies too - try this set of 10 differentiated French Christmas word searches @ £3! https://www.tes.com/teaching-resource/primary-french-christmas-word-searches-12012514 The resource is non-editable in a zipped format. PRIMARY LATIN KS3 LATIN NUMBERS & ROMAN NUMERALS 0-100 I encourage my beginner Latin students to build up a comprehensive vocabulary bank that they can reference easily whenever they need it - we also use them for quick Latin vocabulary quizzes, spelling competitions and so on. I’ve put the numbers across four pages, because the size of the font is really important for all learners, but especially for beginner language learners, as they begin to familiarize themselves with words and spelling systems in a new language. I have also uploaded a number reference sheet I give my more experienced Latin learners - it’s in landscape format, with all the numbers on a single sheet, so the font size is smaller - students who’ve been learning Latin for a while are comfortable with quite a lot of text on a single page. Have a browse in my store for more Latin vocabulary lists, and a wide range of other Latin teaching and learning activities, with special offer bundles, resources boxes, and lots of freebies too! PRIMARY LATIN KS3 LATIN NUMBERS & ROMAN NUMERALS 0-100 I encourage my beginner Latin students to build up a comprehensive vocabulary bank that they can reference easily whenever they need it - we also use them for quick vocab quizzes, spelling competitions and so on. This particular sheet is for my more experienced Latin learners, who’ve been learning Latin for a while - all the numbers and numerals are on a single page in landscape format, so the font is fairly small, but they’re comfortable with quite a bit of text on a single page - beginner learners do need to have language very clearly accessible - I also have a version in my store that I give my absolute beginners - the numbers are across four pages in portrait format My students all have reference resource folders or files - these can have a range of formats - for instance, sticking into a large exercise book, or punching holes down the left-hand side, and adding to files (we also use twine or thick string!). There are three backgrounds to choose from - color, which I tend to use for vocab display, black wave - the backgrounds do help to make vocab lists a little more visually appealing for students who have a lot of vocab to learn, particularly at the beginning of their language studies, or plain - which definitely saves on ink! LATIN NUMBERS & ROMAN NUMERALS 1-20 WORD WALL FREEBIE

(3)
PRIMARY LATIN KS3 LATIN NUMBERS ROMAN NUMERALS DISPLAY WORD WALL These word wall cards are great for creating an instant introduction to Latin numbers and Roman Numerals 1-20. I really like to have key vocabulary displayed in a particular area - I find it gives the learning environment a real language ‘feel’ and ‘look’, keeping the language alive every day - and of course the word wall cards are useful during the introduction phase, and we also use them for developing language skills and awareness in general. We like to do number guessing and calculation games at regular intervals too. My younger learners enjoy taking their mini-whiteboards or notepads, and doing Latin vocabulary or calculation race games at the word wall. There are two cards per 8.5 x 11 (A4) page in landscape format - the words are definitely big enough for children to be able to read from various location in the classroom. There are two backgrounds to choose from - color or black wave. I definitely recommend that you print on card stock and/or laminate - the word wall will hang really nicely, and will also last for years.
