GCSE 9-1 Equation of Tangents to Circle (Question Grid Worksheets) This question grid has two levels, the first level each circle has a centre of (0, 0) and level 2 is more challenging with different circle centres and pupils need to find the Tangent to the circle at a given point. This is relevant for the new GCSE 9-1 UK specification. Pupils will choose which level to work out and they select a square and answer that question. It can be played as a competitive game such as ‘noughts and crosses’. Pupils answer on their sticky-notes or in their colour, claiming the square. This is a collect a joke activity which requires pupils to collect the words to collect the Halloween Joke “What do you get if you divide the circumference of a Jack-o-Lantern by its diameter?” and the punchline “Pumpkin Pi”! Pupils start where indicated, make a note of the letter in the middle of the row (cross it out to keep track) and then work out the answer to the question below. They then find this answer on the top row and again make a note of the letter underneath, thus forming the joke and punchline. This resource covers the topic of ratio, including sharing a given amount and given partial information such as person B receives x more etc. There are five worksheets; four tick or trash worksheets and one independent worksheet task. The five worksheets are described below. Worksheet A: This has 10 tick or trash questions on sharing amounts in two and three part ratios. Worksheet B: this has 10 tick or trash questions on ratios where the original amount is not known and instead told what one element of the ratio is worth. Spot the mistake activity worksheet can be used to assess pupil’s understanding of a topic. The aim is for pupils to find and highlight the mistakes in an already the matched up jigsaw and the pupils should then correct those mistakes by listing the correct answer in the space provided. This spot the mistake worksheet involves finding fractions of amounts and involves two different versions. Version 1 is straight forward spot the mistake, were version two can be used to stretch and challenge pupils by asking them to create questions which give the answers around the edge of the jigsaw. Circle theorems are the angle properties associated with circles, chords, tangents, radius and diameters and is part of the GCSE 9-1 curriculum. This resource includes three circle theorem revision foldables. Foldables are ideal for revision or review of a topic and a unique way of creating notes which can be used again and again to test knowledge. The three foldables are; Circle Theorems 1 (pp. 4-5): This foldable requires students to recognise and state in full each of the circle theorems. Circle Theorems 2 (pp.6-7): This foldable requires the pupils to draw an example of each circle theorem. Pupils should also state the theorem in full. Circle Theorems 3 (pp.8-9): This foldable requires pupils to find the missing angles and state the circle theorem used. Two versions of different paper sizes are included one is A4 size and the other letter size. Remember to choose to ‘fit’ when printing.
