I have a wealth of resources that are aimed primarily at KS4 and KS5; however, there are some useful KS3 tasks that have been uploaded this year. Topics at KS5 include: Russia and its Rulers, 1855-1941; Later Tudors, 1547-1603; Popular Culture and the Witchcraze of the 16th and 17th Centuries; Italian Unification, 1830-1870; and Germany, 1890-1990. As well as History, I also have a few resources relating to Geography and ICT that some users may find helpful.

Revision/Summary table for the OCR Unit 3 topic: Russia and its Rulers, 1855-1964. The idea of this worksheet is to help students plan and write thematic essays. Students need to complete the table by bullet pointing the main social, economic and political events from each period. They then need to colour code the bullet points based on 6 'mini themes' (that are often the focus of exam questions). Using this colour coded system, students should be able to easily spot the trends going through the course and can pull this out when planning an essay question.

A revision table to be used in preparation for Qs 1a and 2a of the A Level Russia exam. This table lists some of the key topics that students may be given in the question; they must then list the factors involved in causing this event. Included is a set of possible factors that they may put for each section, although this is by no means comprehensive. They can then use this table for question practice, by choosing two of their factors and writing an answer comparing them.

Students can use their class notes or a text book to complete a summary of each event that led to a 'changing Italy'. A set of teacher notes that I created over the summer in preparation for first teaching of the Edexcel unit: Unification of Italy, 1830-1870. The notes follow the order of the Hodder text book by Podesta; however, both the Pearson and Access to History books have been used to supplement this information. The date range begins in c.1815 to give some context in the run up to the 1830 Edexcel start date. This resource is intended to be used as a start point for teachers who are new to this topic; they will find even more information in the text books listed above. The resource has been created using Word 2013 in its Notebook layout, so the formatting may be slightly different if opened in a print layout format.

Included are detailed PowerPoints, teacher notes and a couple of revision diagrams to support the teaching of the second Depth topic (c.1914-1919) and the breadth topics up to 1919. Please note that the period 1871-1914 will be covered by a coursework teacher, so that content is not included in this bundle. Resources relating to the period 1919-1990 will be covered in later bundles, so please keep your eye on my shop!

A basic word processing task for students who are being introduced to Microsoft Word or for those taking national qualifications that require typing accuracy. Students have to write out a passage of text before formatting it using a set of instructions. Students can be extended by encouraging them to write formatting instructions for their partner or for the rest of the class.

A short 20-mark assessment that is designed for the CIE iGCSE ICT specification. All questions test students' knowledge of Units 2 and 3, so this would be great to use as a half-term assessment or revision exercise. All questions have featured on past CIE papers (to which the content is credited). All mark schemes for the questions can be found on the CIE website; however, the questions are relatively straightforward and can be marked without a mark scheme.

A word processing task to introduce students to basic formatting techniques and to encourage accuracy (something that is required in all national assessments). Students have to write out a block of text before formatting it using a set of instructions. More able students will be able to follow the instructions to create an automatic file name and to edit the content in the header/footer. This can be edited for KS2; however, it is primarily suited to Year 8 and Year 9. Instructions have been included for each step so that less able students can be prompted on how to complete the task.

Detailed handout on Elizabeth's relationship with Scotland during her reign. Also included is a map of Europe that highlights the religious state of Europe at this time. This is a concise handout that will be useful for all students studying the Later Tudor period and Elizabeth I. It is perfect as an alternative to the text book, particularly for revision. A set of 22 revision dominoes for the new AQA GCSE unit: Restoration England, 1660-1685. This is really useful as a starter activity as students move closer to the exam (or at the end of the unit) - hand one domino to each pupil and have them read out the date, the pupil with the corresponding event reads this out and then reads out their date. This should start a chain reaction around the room. My class always want to beat their time! There are perhaps more events and dates that can be added; however, this is a useful starting point.

Two worksheets for KS3/KS4 to encourage students to analyse/evaluate visual sources. The content relates to the Suffragettes and the sources show the Women's Suffrage movement in a positive and negative light. Students are tasked with describing the sources, picking out key symbols and inferences. The grid would be a useful group activity where students can analyse the pictures in groups and rotate these every few minutes; the postcard task can then be set for homework.

A full lesson's work on the Industrial Revolution. This can be used as an introductory lesson on a much larger unit of work, or could be a stand-alone lesson. Included is a PowerPoint presentation that can be worked through. The timeline cards can be cut out and laminated. Then, give out to students and have them move around the room to find other pupils with corresponding cards (there should be three for each category). Then have them put themselves in order: 1750-->1900. There is also another timeline task where students can colour-code the dates based on each theme. They then need to identify the most important category and any turning points.

A task to improve students' knowledge of Microsoft Word; this is ideal practice for the OCR CLAIT Qualification. Students are presented with a piece of text on the history of the goldfish. They must follow the instructions to format and edit the document. I have provided an answer sheet which shows the finished product; students can compare their work with this at the end of the task. Students are asked to cut and paste; insert text; find and replace text etc. An extension activity could be to get students to create their own instructions for a partner to follow.

A useful lesson starter and class task on the D Day landings. Students are given a selection of images and they must first try to work out what is going on in each (all images from WikiCommons). Then, after a class discussion, they need to try to put them in the correct order. Once finished, they can try to match them up and rearrange the events on the PowerPoint presentation, before sticking/writing into their books. A map of the D Day landings has also been included, to be used alongside the questions from the PowerPoint. This is a useful introduction to D Day and can be used as a springboard for further tasks.

A useful card sort and revision sheet for pandemics through time, to be used in conjunction with the 'medicine through time' style unit from any exam board (this was designed for AQA). Give students the cut out cards and ask them to put them together in groups for each pandemic (categories include: name, date, cause, treatment etc.) The content is fairly basic at this stage, as the next task is to transfer this information (in note form) on to the blank table, along with further detail from class work/textbooks. This can then be used for revision, particularly for Q3 of the AQA paper which asks students to make comparisons across the period (e.g. 'Compare the cholera epidemic with the Black Death, in what ways are they similar?)

A full term’s work of resources for teaching The First World War to Year 9 (could also be adapted for a more-able Year 8 class, if pursuing a three-year GCSE course). Included are lesson packs covering all aspects of the First World War. Each lesson pack includes a PowerPoint (with integrated videos, worksheet screenshots and activities), individual worksheets and contemporary sources (where required). There are seven topics in total, each one taking between one and two weeks. This will leave room for time for assessments, trips and a potential research project on the Home Front (which is not included in this pack). These resources were originally designed for paperless teaching on OneNote; however, it will work perfectly for exercise book teaching (simply replace ‘on OneNote’ with ‘in your exercise books’ on the slides). No textbooks needed!
