I created this playscript for my Year 5 class to perform this year. We spent a number of weeks on persuasive writing, so I thought it would be a fantastic way to show off the techniques they had learned in persuasive techniques. I based it around the TV show Dragon's Den. The Assembly has 4 dragons in which the contestants must persuade to buy their products using persuasive techniques. There is a narrator role also, which explains what's going on throughout the play. This playscipt is easy to adapt and was really funny to watch as well as show off what the children had learned. Graded: Outstanding This is a lesson that I did for an observation today with the English coordinator. It's a lesson on Tanka poetry. Children learned what a Tanka was the day before, but today they needed to create a bank of similes, metaphors and adjectives to enhance their descriptions that they will use in their poem later in the week. I have differentiated this activity, by providing scaffolding support for the SEN/EAL children in my class. The lesson, as a whole, was intended to be a mixed ability lesson. However, as it was an observation, I needed to include some form of extra support/ scaffolding for some children. This lesson is linked to the Vikings and children need to describe what it would be like to leave their lovely homeland with the beautiful scenery. The resource includes: *a clear, detailed lesson plan, *picture to annotate *powerpoint to explain the meaning of a Tanka (if needed prior to the lesson) *basic flipchart for referall as a class *simile and metaphor sort *simile and metaphor sort (EAL/SEN).

A wonderful week of planning, resources and presentations to engage children in writing playscripts. As our topic was on Ancient Greece, the playscript that children will be writing will be based around Ancient Greek Gods. I found that this motivated the children more as they already had previous information on the topic. Children are introduced to playscipts by picking out the features in pairs and also gathering an understanding of what a 'myth' is. As the week progresses, children will then create a hero/heroine for their own playscipt by filling out a job application for that particular character. There is a planning/drafting day included also, with resources, to ensure children fully understand the layout of a playscript, along with using features of a Greek Myth. By the end of the week, children will produce an interesting Greek Myth play using the features correctly and effectively. This resource includes notebook presentation, differentiated resources, very detailed planning which points out explicitly what needs to be taught and how the lessons are to be differentiated, and also a success criteria for children to follow. I have tried these lessons myself, and my children really enjoyed them. An editable book cover hunt. Children will follow the clues on the reverse side of each book cover and hunt around the school for some hidden treasure. They must write down the names of the book covers that they come across too and aim to read at least one of them that week. Just something a bit different during Book Week to engage them with different books. This package includes a lesson plan and a wealth of images and templates to carry out 4 different art activities. We spent the full day focusing on art from different artists such as Picasso Monet Romero Britto and many more. The learning objective is: How do I create different tones of one colour using different media, exploring shape and pattern? Success Criteria: I can discuss the work of artists. I can mix paint to create different shades of blue. I can keep the colours clean by using a clean brush to mix. I can make an observational drawing I can combine pastel colours to create an illusion of colours mixing. I can create a repeating pattern using tone to add depth. Children will create 4 different art pieces using many different techniques all based around our theme of the colour blue.

10 higher level thinking questions for deepening understanding and developing mathematical language Having studied in a course based on AFL strategies, I have a new found love (so to speak) for asking higher level questions during lessons to evoke discussion between students. The more they discuss concepts, the deeper their understanding will grow. With this in mind, I created these colourful cards to be cut, laminated and given to my year 4 class once a week to create ‘colourful’, intentional discussion. As we are all aware, there are many different types of learners, and children remember 90% of the information that teach someone else. Therefore, by engaging in critical thinking in maths, they will essentially be “teaching” their partner why their reasoning is correct through having to “prove” it to them. My class adored this and the intentional discussion kept them engaged in the task for much longer as they had to get their personal opinions across. I created this document to hand out to my parents at the beginning of the school year. It’s a short snippet of activities that parents could engage with with their children. There are 7 pages, including: *Some sample questions to ask children while reading. *Rate out of 10. To allow children to form opinions on what they’ve read. *Re-tell the story. To allow children to order parts of the story. *Change the ending. This allows children to take their understanding to another level. *Strategies for parents when reading with their children. **OBSERVATION LESSON** A co-worker of mine asked would I plan a lesson observation with them on angles. A few years ago, I taught a similar lesson for an observation. Basically, this resource contains: A clear, detailed and differentiated lesson plan A simple but colourful powerpoint to use as a guideline 3 activities differentiated into high, middle and low Angle creators with arrows (just print, laminate and secure with a split pin). This lesson aims to engage a variety of learners. By using the angle creator, visual and kinesthetic learners can practically make the different types of angles that are being taught in this lesson. (Acute, obtuse, reflex, right angle, straight line angle) HA are extended by asking children to label the angles found in 2D shapes and how to measure them by using a protractor. The plenary asks children to spot angles in the clock face. A really enjoyable lesson. Please review.

This is a 4 day plan focused on Tanka Poetry. Tanka poems are 5 lines long and contain 31 syllables. They are normally about nature, love, sadness or other strong emotions. As my children have studied the Vikings this year, I have based this planning for children to imagine that they are a Viking leaving their lovely homeland and family. Children spend the week researching about the Vikings leaving their homes and also using similes, metaphors and adjectives to describe their feelings. My children really enjoyed these lessons and were surprisingly good at writing Tanka poems. Powerpoint, lesson plan and activities included.

This resource consists of a history and geography lesson on the Romans. It is the first week in each subject on the topic of the Romans. In History, the children will be thinking about the term history and what it means. They will then discuss and fill in a KWL chart based on the Romans, which is a nice little assessment tool. The children will fill in what they Know about the ROmans and what they Want to know about the Romans. This provides an interest into the topic and children will hope to have their curiosities answered by the end of the topic. The L section of the KWL will be left until the end of the topic where children will fill out what they have Learned. In Geography, the children will be looking at which countries were occupied by the Roman Empire. This lesson looks at using compass skills and atlas work also, which is a great geographical skill in itself. This resource comes with both a history and geography plan, along with two separate presentations to use in the lesson. They are saved as notebooks. If you do not have notebook viewer on your computer you can download it for free online so that you can avail of these presentations. KWL and SEN resource included. Please review this resource :)

A detailed chapter study of the book Charlie and the Chocolate Factory by Roald Dahl. Included: vocabulary study from various chapters comprehension questions for a variety of chapters character analysis on all of the main characters in the book a wide range of independent activities which engage children with the content of the story. This is a selection of resources in which I used alongside reading the story to my class. It can be used for guided reading sessions also. During the independent activities children are asked to: Re-write the blurb Re-draw the cover for the book Write a letter to Veruca Salt’s Dad Write a diary entry from Grandpa Joe’s point of view. This is a rewards and sanction chart in which I made with my class. It is coloured green, orange and red to indicate a child's behaviour. Each child will design their own peg at the beginning of the school year and attach it to the green section, which reads, 'I have earned all of my Golden Time'. If a child misbehaves, or doesn't follow the rules, they will then go and move their own peg to the orange section, which is labelled 'warning. If a child further disobeys the rules, they then must move their peg to the red section accordingly (i.e. 5 minutes lost, then 10 etc). The picture attached is the chart in my classroom at the moment (to show as an example), however I have upgraded and improved it to attach on TES. This resource includes a detailed plan for a week on subtraction. The plan is differentiated and explicitly lays out what each group will do for their activity each day. Objectives covered are: Using column method accurately Using the inverse to check my answers Solving word problems involving subtraction I have also included levelled SATs questions as an extension to extend or assess children's application of subtraction. These lessons were taught by myself and my year 4 team, who found the outcomes to understanding subtraction were successful. I have attached a maths skill check also, which I have started to use for the first lesson each week to check children's understanding of a variety of mathematical concepts.

********END OF TERM MATHS INVESTIGATIONS ********* I'm not pawning this off as my own, I did not make these resources so therefore I will not be selling them. I am simply bundling them together as I spent an hour looking for a week's worth of activities for maths next week as an end of term type thing. I did make the planning myself, so I have attached this. However the other resources I found on TES and I thought they were amazing! Just trying to save someone the time in looking for a long time.
