A complete lesson taking students through the calculations for reacting masses Suitable for trilogy and separate chemistry It starts with practice of moles and molar calculations. It then demonstrates the idea of ratios using recipes for making cakes. There are then some worked examples for the whole class to do together plus some individual practice. The lesson closes with more students practice and then com exam questions. Updated 23/11/20 as my class requested more worked examples to do as a class All answers included

It starts by looking at the way that objects produce electromagnetic radiation and the link to temperature. It then looks at Wien’s displacement law and Stefan’s law including calculations and comparisons of luminosity and temperature. It then move son to look at spectra and how electrons produce photons of light after being excited. It then closes by looking at the difference between emission and absorption spectrum and how they can be sued to analyse stars. It then looks at the reactions of amino acids with bases, other acids and alcohol. This includes practice at drawing the structures of the various products produced. The lesson then moves to amides including the various ways of naming them. The last part of the lesson looks at chirality and the effect of different optical isomers when used in medicine. The lesson starts with a retrieval starter covering topics from B1 and B2 It then looks at the transport of sugars using aphids as a hook. It then links this to photosynthesis. This is summed using using some knowledge checking questions and an exam question The lesson then moves on to phloem and their structure comparing them to xylem. There are some questions and a Venn diagram activity. There are then some quick AfL questions followed by an exam question. the lesson closes with an application activity looking at the damage done to trees by herbivores eating their bark All resources and answers provided

The second lesson in OCR A level Biology topic 3.1.2 Animal transport covering objective c- structure and function of blood vessels. This is a complete lesson with a starter, a variety of student led activities and a differentiated summary activity at the end. The main activity is an information hunt where students complete a two page summary of the three main types of blood vessels using provided information sheets. However in these Covid-19 led times the PowerPoint has been set up to automatically move on and to loop round allowing it to be displayed at the front and students to use it to complete the sheet. In the main lesson PowerPoint all ansewrs are provided. Some slides have additional information on them to support delivery / understanding of the topics covered
