This lesson introduces learners to different types of strategic positions a business can adopt as demonstrated through Porter’s strategies and Bowman’s strategic clock. This builds on from strategic direction in the previous lesson (deciding which market to operate in, now the emphasis is how to position within the chosen market). We go through the three strategies of Porter before looking at the pros and cons of cost leadership, differentiation and focus. A short exam style question and answer before going onto the second part of the lesson. This free lesson introduces learners to international competitiveness. We look at the importance of unit labour costs and export prices in determining the level of competitiveness of a nation. We go into some more detail and look at what the World Economic Forum looks at to determine international competitiveness. Pros and cons of being internationally competitive is discussed. Some video case studies to use as exam questions, true or false questions and a research task to contextualise the topic furhter.

This double lesson introduces learners to inequalities around the world and in the UK. We start by looking at some unequal scenes and asking students what inequality is, the impact of it and why it is important to try and reduce inequalities. We consider the difference between income and wealth before looking at the causes of income and wealth inequality. We then look at how to measure inequality through illustration of the Lorenz curve, we then look at how the Gini coefficient can be derived from the Lorenz curve - a plotting a curve task to consolidate this important diagram. In the second part of the lesson we consider capitalism and its influence on inequalities, some interesting debates can be stimulated from this part of the specification. In this free lesson, learners are introduced to the evolutionary explanations for partner preferences, including the relationship between sexual selection and human reproductive behaviour.
We start by discussing what relationships are, what attracts individuals to others and traits that we might look for, we then look at sexual selection from an evolutionary perspective, intersexual and intrasexual selection, and reproductive strategies based on gender. In this free lesson, learners are introduced to forensic psychology by focusing on top-down offender profiling.
We start by discussing what crime is and whether a crime scene can help to identify the type of criminal that may have committed the offence. We them focus on the top-down approach to offender profiling, we look into organised vs disorganised offenders, followed by a discussion and video on the Ted Bundy case. This free lesson introduces learners to the different types of conformity and the explanations for conformity. We start with an engaging starter which demonstrates conformity in the classroom. We then look at what conformity actually is, with different examples relating to real life. We focus on the three types of conformity (compliance, identification and internalisation), before looking at the two explanations for conformity (normative social influence and informational social influence).

This free lesson develops students’ understanding from the previous lesson on the product life cycle and now introduces learners to various extension strategies that can be used to lengthen the life of a product. We look at the advantages and disadvantages of each strategy - this can be done with a kinaesthetic task where students walk around the class and note down the pros and cons of the different strategies on their sheet (quite a few to remember and not so fun to write it all down from the board). In this double lesson, we start by discussing how change can be monitored for students in their learning, we then start applying this discussion to businesses. We go through different types of quantitative and qualitative data that could come up in resource 2 for the 16 marker before roleplaying a change mangaement meeting. Students then prepare a presentation on monitoring the change management process before attempting a 16 mark question. Peer assessment grid and indicative content given to help students reflect on improving their answers. We finish off with a debate, box plenary and a kahoot quiz.
