KS3 Unit 7A Biology - Tissues, Cells and Organs Aimed for low ability Year 7 but can be adapted for high/middle ability if required Lesson 7Ac: Microscopes Part 1 (only 1/2 of 7Ac is within this lesson - see learning objectives for more information) Lesson 4 - Microscopes Objectives: To find the learning targets using a microscope To label the parts of a microscope To use a microscope to magnify cells Give each pupil a piece of paper with microscopic writing on. Have a magnifying glass for them to use, can they see it now?, how could they see it more clearly? Idea of microscopes? STUDENTS HAVE TO FIND THE LEARNING OBJECTIVES FOR THE LESSON Do a demo of the microscope, show the pupils each part and what it does, show them how to set it up on the smallest magnification. Ask them to set the microscope up and read what is written on the paper and write it in their books (they are learning targets for them to write down, there are 3) Quick quiz on parts of microscope, pictures on slides 1-10 in books, multiple choice answers. ll extension questions available on each slide Answers all underneath each slide Support also available where necessary AfL sections and mini quizzes Reducing the need for photocopying Enjoy !!!!
