This is a popular hands-on Year 1 making sentences word ordering resource. It’s a full class set of 30 different reusable simple sentence building activity boards and now also comes with an additional worksheet version of all boards. Originally designed for Year 1 (Y1) (or Primary 2 in Scotland), these sentence construction SPaG / Grammar activities could be used elsewhere in EYFS / Reception (Primary 1) and Key Stage 1, depending on ability. Emergent writers love lifting the words off the boards to sort and unscramble them to find the hidden sentence. With an engaging picture clue and title on each board, this word sequencing Literacy Basic Skills resource suits a range of learning styles. After carefully reading the jumbled words, your early writers correctly rearrange them on the board before writing the sentence out on the lines provided, using a dry-wipe pen. Regular practice with scrambled sentences should help children begin to form sentences independently.
This is a 66 page PDF document in a Zip file, together with an additional editable Word document of the word cards only.
Each mixed-up sentence contains a word beginning with a capital letter to help identify the first word and to reinforce this important punctuation rule, and a full stop to pick up and place at the end. While constructing these sentences, children also learn about word order, parts of speech and that a sentence must make sense on its own.

Print in colour on quality card to make it sturdy and laminate for repeated use. It’s ideal for using as a regular activity, with children working on a different one each session. Or choose the ones you make up if working with a smaller group. It could be used with SEN / ASN groups or others requiring support with writing.
Words are printed in faint grey on each sheet in a random order. Once laminated, cut the word strips and stick each word on top of this faint type, using Blu Tack, Blu Tack ‘Glu Dots’ or equivalent. Each strip is in a different colour to help identify the board it is from. Train the children to replace the words to these starting positions and to wipe boards before putting them back. Good quality laminating pouches and easy-wipe pens will help with this!

CONTENTS:
Vocabulary support: Two word mats (one for physical descriptions and one for character / personality descriptions). Display or print if any students require them. There’s also a card of common intensifiers (trop, assez, un peu etc), as some of the cards contain these linked to describing character traits (I am very friendly, I am too lazy etc). Please note these 3 vocabulary support pages are included in some related resources too.
Translation cards: A set of 24 cards for oral practice of describing people in French, mixing both physical descriptions and personality. Print and laminate as required. In pairs, students translate the text on their card into French, practicing speaking it together. Or they could read the French and translate it into English. The 6 English language sides are designed to be printed back-to-back with the 6 translation sides for student self-checking. If you prefer, the translations could be printed as separate cards.
Reading comprehension: This worksheet (included at 2 levels with answer keys) also mixes physical descriptions with personality descriptions, with a short third person text. The one-star version is for less experienced or less able students. It features the same text but has multiple choice questions.
Key Stage 2 (KS2) Year 3, 4, 5 and 6 maths games for rounding to the nearest 10, 100, 1000, 10000, whole number, 1 decimal place, 2 decimal places and estimating the sum or difference by rounding to ten. Fun, challenging and strategic, these 17 estimation and rounding games will make students think carefully about where to place digits in order to make each statement on the board correct. As children are allowed to place the digits they roll (or spin) in any row on their side of the board, they will begin to generate tactics and the uncertainty will be prolonged until the final moments! 23 pages, PDF format.
Great for starters, early finishers, revision or as a fun homework task
Many levels of challenge - ideal for differentiation or for use across year groups: includes multiple games for each of rounding to the nearest ten, hundred, thousand, whole number, one decimal place, two decimal places, estimating the sum or difference and one for rounding to the nearest ten thousand
Use as printed worksheets or else laminate (or use in dry-wipe sleeves) and complete with whiteboard pens
Instead of playing in pairs, you might form small groups - pairs could play against pairs instead of one-versus-one and you might appoint a checker who can adjudicate (and then swap roles for the next game). Consider enlarging to A3 for larger groups.
Every turn, players can place the digit they throw on any box on any row, until there are no vacant boxes remaining, prolonging the uncertainty!
If you don’t have a 0-9 dice:
Use 0-9 spinners (I have included black and white and colour templates for your convenience) if you wish to make some
Use digit cards (basic digit cards included in the file)
Use a pack of playing cards (use Aces as 1 and Jacks as 0, put aside the Kings and Queens; shuffle the pack and take one card in turn)

After the vocabulary has been introduced and key teaching points explained, further slides review vocabulary and linked sentences before the answer appears on the click of the mouse. Review tasks include labelling diagrams on screen, translation tasks, jumbled words, a picture quiz, and two interactive review games (10 rounds of Hangman and 4 rounds of Hexagons, where students must complete a path across the grid by translating vocabulary).

Designed as a dice game, it can be used in other ways. As individuals, in pairs or in groups, students roll to find out which 3 words they must incorporate into a sentence (Instructions are on the cards). There are 6 groups of words on each card – openers/connectives, verbs, adjectives, adverbs and two groups of nouns. Students place the selected words anywhere in their sentence, as long as it makes sense, recording the sentence on paper or a mini whiteboard. You may wish to allow flexibility (changing verb tense, using the verb as an adjective etc.)
To cater for different situations and abilities, change the number of words they roll for, have students team up with a partner or select any words they want from the card. I encourage dictionary use for unfamiliar words and urge students to keep sentences they are especially proud of for use in longer pieces of writing. The activity might spark a whole story!
Print on card or paper and laminate for repeated use. With a smaller group, choose the ones you print and/or laminate cards back to back. Alternatively, display cards on the screen for whole class use.

A fun, strategic activity for consolidating this key money / financial / shopping skill. Ideal for maths lessons or Money Week skills practice.

Laminate and use again and again. Children work as pairs against pairs or one against one to get 4 correct answers in a row - horizontally, vertically or diagonally. It works especially well if they roll a dice to find which column they must pick a calculation from (columns numbered 1-6). If there are no questions left in a column, skip a go or roll again. Imagining that they pay for each item with £20, pupils use a different coloured whiteboard pen to record on the board the change due for each of their transactions or add an initial or symbol if both teams are using the same colour. I recommend printing in A3 but A4 is okay too. The LA versions have a star next to the title. Print on different coloured card or paper if required.
LOOP GAME / FOLLOW ME CARDS / DOMINOES
A 20-card set that can start with any card. A child reads the 'I spend' part first as they make their 'purchase' with others working out if they have the relevant 'I give you'. Use as a game for groups or as a whole class starter or plenary (in pairs if necessary). LA pupils could be given less challenging cards so they can still experience success.

The file containing the cards has the question sides on the odd numbered pages and the answer sides on the even numbered pages. If your printer can print double-sided you can set it to print the answer sides on the reverse of the questions, or else you can put the card or paper back in the printer in the correct order and print the even numbered pages on the other side. You can laminate them and have children work on them individually or in groups, checking the answer on the back once they’ve had a go at it. Alternatively, make it competitive and have individuals or pairs race to get the answer, using a timer. KS2 / KS3 FRENCH MEGABUNDLE
A fun calendar skills maths activity for lower Key Stage 2 (KS2) (originally designed for Year 3 and 4 - Y3 and Y4) - or Primary 4 and 5 in Scotland-, to provide practice, during the Time focus in maths, of reading or using a calendar. It consolidates understanding of months and gives practice of calculating days and weeks after / before etc, developing students’ general understanding of how calendars work. It could be used with lower ability students in Year 5 and 6 too. Students will practise terminology such as ‘fortnight’, ‘day before yesterday’, ‘a week on Tuesday’ etc and be encouraged to count on and back in sevens for full weeks. If they are to move forwards or back 8/15/20 days etc, they can learn to move to the nearest exact week then move back or forwards a day as appropriate, rather than counting days one at a time. **UK date formats used. **
Please check the preview to assess suitability. The resources are in PDF within a Zip file. The Question Cards are also included in a Word document to be easily editable so that you can amend them if required, perhaps adding in details relevant to the school / country in which you are teaching.
The game board is in 3 sections and is comprised of 3 months of the calendar (May, June and July). Children use the instructions printed on the cards and boards to navigate forwards and backwards in time, until someone reaches the end of July! A rule card is included for the children to refer to. This could be used with groups across the whole class or perhaps just for a group that needs lots of consolidation of calendar work, to add some variety to their learning programme. The boards were designed in A3 and they work really well at this size if being used with a larger group. If you can only print in A4, you might want to scale it up on the copier after printing. However, A4 works fine too. You might need to use the ‘shrink to fit’ setting on your printer if printing in A4.

Many slides in the original PowerPoint version feature answers that appear when you click, for students to respond. An additional PDF version is included. While the PDF version does not retain the ability for teachers to reveal answers by clicking, it will still help you introduce and review this topic if you do not have PowerPoint. Please note the interactive Reveal the Picture game is not compatible with PDF and is therefore omitted from that version. Also included is a PDF of flash cards. All sports covered in the presentation feature in 3 versions - the names of the sports in French (with and without backgrounds), and a further version features the sports in verb phrases (jouer / faire etc).

There’s a core set of 25 items for this topic: la chambre, le salon, la cuisine, la salle à manger, la salle de bains, l’armoire, la baignoire, le canapé, la chaise, la clôture, la douche, l’escalier, l’étagère, le fauteuil, la fenêtre, la lampe, le lit, la machine à laver, le miroir, l’ordinateur, la porte, la table, la télévision, les tiroirs, les toilettes. No prep required: Just print! Students use the answers to make a path through the maze. The correct pathway does not pass through all boxes.
Use again: You might want to laminate to use again and again, with students using a dry-wipe marker instead of a pencil or highlighter etc. They can easily erase if they go wrong.
Differentiation: There are mazes at two levels of challenge to suit different ages and abilities. Mazes work well for individuals, pairs or small groups. You might want to enlarge mazes for use by larger groups. The less challenging mazes go up to the 10 times table, while the more challenging mazes go up to the 12 times table. The less challenging mazes also have fewer paths.
Answer keys: You could print an answer key so you can quickly find students who have gone wrong and nudge them back on course! The mazes also promote self-correction as students retrace their steps to see where they have strayed from the correct path! You could display the answer key on the whiteboard at the end for self-checking.

This is a BUNDLE of popular hands-on sentence ordering Key Stage 1 Writing resources. It contains 3 different full class sets or reusable simple sentence construction activities and is great for differentiation. The jumbled sentences sets now also come with additional worksheet versions of all 90 boards. Originally designed for Year 1 (Primary 2 in Scotland) SPaG / Grammar lessons, these activities could be used elsewhere in EYFS / Reception (Primary 1) and Key Stage 1, depending on ability.
Emergent writers love lifting the words off the boards to unscramble them to find the hidden simple sentence. With an engaging picture clue and title on each board, these word sequencing Literacy Basic Skills resources suit a range of learning styles. After carefully reading the jumbled words, your early writers correctly rearrange them on the board before writing the sentence out on the lines provided, using a dry-wipe pen. Regular practice with scrambled sentences should help children begin to form sentences independently.
There are 3 x 65-page PDF documents in Zip files, together with additional editable Word documents of the word cards only, in case you wish to change the font or colour of the words.
Each mixed-up sentence contains a word beginning with a capital letter to help children identify the first word and to reinforce this important punctuation rule, and a full stop (or question mark) to pick up and place at the end of their sentence. While constructing these sentences, children also learn about word order, parts of speech and about the fact that a sentence must make sense on its own.

INSTRUCTIONS:
Print in colour on quality card to make it sturdy and laminate for repeated use. It’s ideal for using as a regular activity, with children working on a different one each session. Or choose the ones you make up if working with a smaller group. It could be used with SEN / ASN groups or others requiring support with writing.
Words are printed in faint grey on each sheet in a random order. Once laminated, cut the word strips and stick each word on top of this faint type, using Blu Tack, Blu Tack ‘Glu Dots’ or equivalent. Each strip is in a different colour to help identify the board it is from. Train the children to replace the words to these starting positions and to wipe boards before putting them back. Good quality laminating pouches and easy-wipe pens will help with this!
