I created them for my younger learners to practise their Spanish numbers around Christmas time - they love the Christmas theme! I’ve found that Christmas is a great time to revisit language learned earlier in the year, and the games cards are also multi-skill - reading, speaking, listening - they’re ideal for honing numeracy skills too. Children really like to work together as they play the games. I’ve described several games that are really successful for us that you can try. I always do a quick warm-up and recap of numbers before we play any number games, and the simple forwards and backwards counting presentation is ideal for this.
There are 72 calculations in total - 36 addition and 36 subtraction. The answer cards are marked with a plus or minus sign. This means that there are 144 cards in total - I always laminate my languages games cards because they’re far easier to work with and last for years - so do try to laminate them if you can. These Numbers 0-20 addition and subtraction Christmas games cards are great for developing numeracy skills. I’ve found that Christmas lessons are the perfect time to
revisit learning from earlier in the school year. Children are generally really happy to work together in a cooperative, communicative and collaborative way, at their own pace,
independently of the teacher. The cards are great for games at home too!
There are 72 calculations in total - 36 addition and 36 subtraction. The answer cards are marked with a plus or minus sign. This means that there are 144 cards in total - it’s quite a bit of prep, but do laminate them if you can, as they are far more user-friendly, and also
last for many Christmastimes!

PRIMARY FRENCH DISPLAY WORD WALL DAYS MONTHS SEASONS This Primary French word wall display creates an instant introduction to the days of the week and the months and seasons of the year in French, and really brightens up the learning environment too. I like to share essential vocab that we can use in everyday language with my young learners from the beginning of their learning. We use them not only when we’re introducing and practising days, months and seasons, but also for developing French language skills and awareness in general. We talk a lot about the similarities and differences in the different languages, such as the use of capital letters, and we look very closely for cognates too.
There are two cards per 8.5 x 11 (A4) page in landscape format - the words are definitely big enough for children to be able to read - we do lots of guessing, spelling and vocab games for example. There are two backgrounds to choose from - French flag or black wave. PRIMARY LATIN NUMBERS 1-10 AND GREAT FOR YEAR 7 LATIN TOO
10 differentiated word searches focusing on LATIN NUMBERS 1-10. They’re great for independent learning - I just give my students free choice to choose the level of challenge, making sure that over time, everyone really does challenge themselves! I always give answer keys too - they give students a further opportunity to practise their numbers, and to both self and peer assess. Students at this age are developing learning skills in general, as well as learning Latin, and I’ve found that this particular design of grid and challenge level, works really well as an all-round learning resource.
Word searches sometimes get bad press for being too easy, and with little learning value, but I disagree, and my students love the ones I design for them. I always build in differentiation, with each grid increasing in challenge - the grids are really inclusive, challenging all learners.
There are 5 LATIN-LATIN grids - the prompt words are in Latin, and the grid words are also in Latin. Each grid is progressively more challenging. There are also 5 ENGLISH-LATIN grids - the prompt word is in English, and students have to find the Latin equivalent in the grid. On each grid there’s a number list they have to complete too for extra practice. Each grid is on 8.5 x 11 (A4) landscape format - this format has always worked best for my beginner Latin learners.

The workbook focuses on formation and conjugation, rather than usage, though it’s definitely useful to remind students of a number of things when focusing on or revising tense and verb formation and conjugation. For example, students do often try to conflate what they know about conjugation in their first language, and the language they are learning, and those with English as a first language frequently look for a word that is the equivalent of would, until they familiarise themselves with the fact that the notion of conditional is indicated in the verb ending. I see this a lot with the future tense too, and tend to introduce both tenses quite closely together. It’s also easy to confuse the future tense endings with the conditional tense endings, and targeted practice helps to address that really well.

KS3 FRENCH PRIMARY FRENCH CHRISTMAS ACTIVITIES 198 BEGINNER FRENCH & ENGLISH VOCABULARY CARDS, 99 BEGINNERS FRENCH WORDS & PHRASES WITH A 60-QUESTION MULTI-SKILL QUIZ I think that lessons in the run-up to Christmas provide the perfect opportunity to revisit language we’ve learnt earlier in the school year - my beginner French students really enjoy going back over and consolidating the vocab that they were introduced to right at the beginning of their learning. I created various sets of Christmas-themed vocab cards to get them feeling festive - it definitely works! I tend to have several sets all ready, and keep them in learning folders, so that students can choose which vocab groups they want to work on, though often, they like to work with the complete set, so it’s a good idea to have a couple of sets so that there are enough to go round.
There’s vocabulary from the following word groups in this set:

My students really like to learn independently, and I’ve described a range of games that they particularly enjoy. PRIMARY GERMAN KS3 UHRZEIT TELLING TIME REFERENCE BOOK - EVERY ANALOGUE CLOCK TIME I like to give my students comprehensive vocab books and reference resources. They enable them to work more independently, both in class and at home. This German Telling the Time Reference Book has 14 pages, and features every analogue clock time in German. PRIMARY FRENCH TELLING TIME DISPLAY POSTERS QUARTER TO & PAST THE HOUR These telling the time posters / flashcards are perfect for creating an instant introduction to telling the time in French. I’ve found that they’re really useful as visual prompts during lessons, as well as keeping the language fresh as students are introduced and practise how to tell the time. They’re ideal at any time during the school year - it’s good for students to have a focus on functional French in their learning environment - ideal for Primary French and Year 7 Beginner French too.
The times are quarter to and quarter past the hour. There are two backgrounds to choose from - French flag or black wave, so 52 posters / flashcards in total. Laminate them if you can - they are definitely easier to manipulate if you’re using as flashcards to introduce and/or practise language, and also to display - you’ll be able to use them over and over again for years too.

PRIMARY LATIN FRUITS WORD WALL My word wall cards are really popular with my younger learners - they create an instant introduction to scrumptious fruits in Latin, and generally give our learning environment a Latin look and feel every day, really bringing the language to life. There are 20 fruits - we don’t actually have all 20 fruits in our learning plan, we use them for developing language skills and awareness in general. I’ve included a selection of genders, including a common gender. I’ve also included several plurals too - this is so useful for beginning discussions about patterns in the formation of plurals. We talk a lot aboutsimilarities and differences in language, for example the lack of the ‘the’ word, and identify cognates and near cognates. We discuss fruits we know and like, and fruits we’d like to try (fig is a particular favourite!).
The fruits are:
= red apple / red apples
= banana / bananas
= cherries
= dates
= fig
= purple/red grapes
= lemon
= mango / mangoes
= olive / olives
= orange / oranges
= papaya / papayas
= peach / peaches
= pear / pears

There are two cards per 8.5 x 11 (A4) page in landscape format - the words are definitely big enough for children to be able to read from various locations in the classroom, so that we can really make the most of the word wall as a learning resource - for example, we do lots of guessing, spelling and vocab race games, usually with mini-whiteboards or notepads - students love these games! There are two backgrounds to choose from, purple/lilac and black wave. I always laminate or print on card stock - if you can, I’d definitely recommend that you do the same - you’ll be able to enjoy your LATIN FRUITS word wall for years to come!

SPANISH NUMBERS 0-31 FLASHCARDS POSTERS These Spanish numbers display posters / flashcards create an instant introduction to Numbers 0-31 in Spanish, also giving the learning environment fabulous Spanish look and feel. I’ve found that having new and high-frequency language displays also helps promote Spanish as a living language, featuring in the everyday life of Spanish learners. The posters help students familiarize themselves with how Spanish words ‘look’, and how sounds are represented in the written form. They’re great as flashcards too, a traditional and really successful way of introducing and practising new language. The font is big enough for students to read in various locations in the classroom - I find this really important so that we can get the most out of any particular display - for example we use them for spelling and mental calculation games at certain points in the lesson.
There are two backgrounds to choose from - Spanish flag or black wave. Laminate or print on card stock - I always do this with my displays - they hang a lot better, and I recycle them for many years.

GCSE SPANISH KS3 SPANISH KS4 SPANISH PRESENT TENSE AR VERBS CONJUGATION PRACTICE 25 high-frequency Spanish AR verbs, 150 conjugation questions, 3 differentiated challenges, answer keys ideal for KS3 Spanish students who are beginning to work with compound sentences and longer texts, and generally developing their knowledge and understanding of conjugation and tense in Spanish. My students really like this kind of grammar activity, as they like to work and learn independently, which is a successful way of varying teaching and learning methodologies - I’ve found it’s really important to avoid predominantly teacher-led learning in the languages classroom.
The workbook focuses on the correct conjugation of verbs, rather than usage, but I definitely find it useful to remind students of a number of things when focusing on or revising tense and verb conjugation. For example, with the Spanish present tense, I encourage students to look for patterns across all the verbs, such as the singular pronouns, including for example the singular formal pronoun Usted form being identical, which is fairly standard, but the conjugation of the formal singular Usted does frequently lead to errors at this stage of learning.
The resource is structured as follows:
Two alphabetical verb reference lists: Spanish-English and English-Spanish, useful for longer-term reference too
Three differentiated conjugation challenges, each with 50 individual conjugations:
Conjugation Challenge 1: each verb conjugated in Spanish across a range of pronouns, with students writing the corresponding English verb conjugation.
Conjugation Challenge 2: gives the infinitive of each verb in Spanish, specifying the target pronoun. Students write the corresponding verb conjugation in Spanish.
Conjugation Challenge 3: students write the corresponding Spanish verb conjugation, and its infinitive, from a Spanish prompt.

Grammar books are not consistent with grammatical terminology, so in this context, the conditional perfect is I would have done or I would have been for example. I’ve used hätte & past participle or wäre & past participle as ich würde gemacht haben or ich würde gewesen sein are no longer commonly used in the way that ich hätte gemacht or ich wäre gewesen is for example. The conjugation is structured in the same way as the Konjunktiv II Plusquamperfekt, which is often called the pluperfect subjunctive in English grammatical terminology, though of course, the usage is different.
