This is a 6 week block of work on Georges Seurat. I used this in year 2 but can be adapted to suit your school. There are 6 power points and i will briefly explain what is in each one lesson 1 - introduction to pointillism and George Seruat - key facts about him (birth/death/ famous for) Introduces the pointillism technique and what it is. Includes the painting la tour Eiffel as a reference task - experimenting making marks using different brushes/ cotton buds and our little fingers Lesson 2 - The colour wheel recap of facts includes painting of bathers at Asnieres and some info about it. explains the colour wheel - primary and secondary colours task - colour wheel sheet - mixing the colours to create the secondary colours Lesson 3 - tints and tones recap of facts explains what a tone is and how we create it Explains what a tint is and how we create it task - children to have a go at creating tints and tones Lesson 4 - colour mixing recap of facts includes the painting- the channel of Gravelines with some info about it looks at how we can use colour mixing to create different tertiary colours How powder paints cvan be thik or thin depnding on th amount of water you put in task - children have some colours and they have to try and get as close to the colour as they can from mixing Lesson 5 - shades using pastels recap of facts includes the painting - sunday on the island of la grande jatte and some info about it How the shadows in the painting are the same colour just different shades looking at the colour wheel and how this can be light or dark in contrast How to create a shade of colour how the pressure you put on a pastel can create a light or dark effect Lesson 6 - creating own masterpiece recap of key facts Look back at the paintings we have covered task - children to choose a painting to recreate using pointillism

This lesson i use at the beginning of a food topic within DT. This is a full lesson and includes:- Key vocab with explanation Discusses what happens when we do not have good food hygiene - food poisoning. Explains about cross contamination and how to avoid it. Include the importance of washing our hands who is at risk of food poisonning There is then a quick quiz of what they have learnt. The task is to create a poster stating how we can prepare food safely

Included is two lessons on a debate surrounding palm oil. For context before i completed these lessons i taught a vocab lesson on what was included in the debate, a comprehension around palm oil and model verbs. This lead into the for and against lesson (included). This for and against lesson goes into detail about palm oil and what is happening within Malaysia and Thailand and the rainforests. As the work they seperate and decide which statements are ‘for’ and which are ‘against’. Then they plan their writing on the next day. I made this more of a slow write to help them include everything they need with the chance to free write their for and against depending on what they choose.

This is a powerpoint with activities. I would print the powerpoint for the children to refer to and help with answering the questions. This goes through what life was like for women and children in the Anglo-Saxon times. includes about women - jobs for the women/royal women/marrying and nuns includes about children - work for children/ typical day/ clothing/ toys/church 4 activities: true or false about women comparing your typical day to an anglo saxon child Choose a toy and describe it explain if you would like to be a child in the Anglo-Saxon times

This is a full lesson with work at the end of the powerpoint. Has a brief descrition of where the Ten Commandments came from. Followed by an extract from the bible. Then there is a slide for each commandment with a picture as reference to help them remember. Explanation of why Christians need the 10 Commandments. For the work the children are given the 10 Commandments and they have to discuss which one they find is the most important and put them in an order. Lower ability children are given the 10 commandments with the pictures that they saw on the powerpoint. Both of these worksheets are at the end of the powerpoint

Star of David powerpoint - Explains the reason for the star of David and ends with an activity of the children creating their own star of David Introduction to Judaism - Goes through the main parts of what is involved with the religion. A whistle stop tour to introduce the subject before going into more detail about each section.

African art - textiles Kente (interwoven strips with geometric patterning) Explains what Kente is and what each of the colours mean and what it represents. Link to a you tube video to watch first. Then there are screen shots of the video and step by step instructions in order to create their own version of kente by weaving strips of coloured paper and then wool with a thick needle. The children have to consider what colours they are going to use and what shapes to add to the piece. This could possibly be two lessons depending on how quick the children complete the activity.

Powerpoint includes three lessons - sketch books - looking at different styles of masks and the patterns that are included within them. Children to practise their patterns and what they weant to include on their masks. I also got the children to practise mixing colours in this lesson aswell ready for the decorating session. make the mask - gores through step by step each process - photos included decorate the mask - shows different ideas for the children to use and decorate their masks I completed this over four sessions due to waiting for the glue to dry and then the paint before we could decorate. Children really enjoyed this activity

This powerpoint looks into the story of Hanukkah and how it is celebrated. included:- which other religion celebrates a festival of light what is Hanukkah and when it is celebrated The story of Hanukkah - includes a link to a video of the story (cartoon style) looks at the menorah and what that is used for how Hanukkah is celebrated - food eaten, games played link to a bbc video on Hanukkah from the eyes of an 11 year old task - complete a table with questions about Hanukkah

This is a complete lesson on different types of rocks This powerpoint includes: key vocabulary quick questions to gather what they know already looking at the three types of natural rock - igneous (intrusive and extrusive) , sedimentary and metamorphic rock goes into more detail on each rock with a link to a short video for each one the task at the end is to fill in the missing words to complete the sentences

This powerpoint looks at the dessert and the rainforest areas of Africa. It discusses the climate in the area along with what animals you will find there, plants and climate change. After this powerpoint we had the children writing a paragraph about each place and what the climate etc is like there.

This is the first lesson about Ancient Egypt - It introduces the Egyptians and include a timeline of key events. It discusses how Egypt used to be split and how these were united. It explains the difference between the three kingdoms and what happened at them times. Lastly it talks about how Cleopatra was the final pharoah and who took over after her. This includes three activities that are linked to the slides, i normally print out the powerpoint for the class then they have all the information needed for the lesson. Activities include. - true or false Putting events in order Writing a short explanation as to why they think Egypt should have united or split. Ancient Egyptian Gods - discusses the early god Atum and what the Egyptians believed about him. It includes 7 of the Gods in more detail and looks at their symbol and what their function was. Gods it discusses is Ra Osiris Horus Thoth Anubis Isis Set Three activities included - a mix and match with gods and functions. looking at a picture and explaining which God they think it is speech from people from Ancient egypt and present day. Children have to decide who would say the statement and why.

This powerpoint is based on the PNS new beginnings year 1 and 2 blue set. This is about bullying and it is all based around two children who are bullied - it is told through a story. Lots of points to stop and have a discussion and how they would feel at different points.

African animals expanded noun phrases practise. Has a powerpoint that goes through and modelling how to add noun phrases into their sentences to make them better. includes prepositional phrases aswell. Lower ability worksheet is included - adding in the adjectives to make the sentences better.

This is a lesson. on Diwali It looks at why Diwali is celebrated / when it is celebrated/ what they do during Diwali and looks at each day/ recap of Rama and Sita story(during the video) There are two videos included from the bbc to watch There are questions to answer at the end (answers included on the next slide)

This is one full lesson with cloze procedure at the end. Included is a discussion on what light is. how light is a form of energy Looks at man made and natural sources of light including bioluminescence in animals. Also how the moon is not a light source. Includes what is dark. At the end there is a cloze procedure which is differentiated three ways.
