How to Vote and Voting systems

(2)
This resource has been useful for me to show students (especially those under 18) how to vote, and what a voting slip can look like. I have also used it on laminated cards as part of an activity when learning about different voting systems; using a direct questioning technique in revision sessions. 'Joe, show us how you would fill in your form using the AV system' 'Amy, how do we vote with FPTP'. You can then challenge the rest of the group to check if the candidate is correct/ to input any corrections.

Gasland - Fracking Documentary worksheet with answers

I used the first 35 minutes of this documentary to enable my classes to see some of the impacts of fracking in the USA as part of our learning about an example of bridging the gap between fossil fuels and renewables. We go through the correct answers and discuss for 10 minutes. https://watchdocumentaries.com/gasland/ There has been a second docuemtary more recently but this one is easy to understand with core issues at the beginning which makes it easy to deliver.

One for student, one for teacher - colour or shade the question(s) you scored badly on, and stick into book/folder. Teacher keeps one copy per students and sticks them in rows onto another sheet of paper to instantly see which questions/skills are commonly weak or need revisiting. Saves lots of time flicking through papers after marking.

Useful for spotting patterns in progress gaps in each class - including a column for literacy and numeracy scores from English and Maths lessons. Although some of this information can take time/focus to collate, it is worthwhile 3 or 4 times a year to collect evidence to inform teaching & intervention and add to performance management folders.

I created this resource whilst working toward my OTP award. Print each set of question starters off onto different coloured paper or card (A5) according to the overview sheet. Can be used by teacher to stretch and challenge and also (budget permitting) by students to peer assess.

An exemplar timetable for parents wanting to support children at home during holiday weeks and help the day run quickly with minimal screen time. The activities and times suggested here cover almost every area of the 2021 expectations. This does not include every day options - this can be found on the “EYFS day-to-day support for parents” document in my shop.
