Primarily designed for AQA where at Foundation and Higher, students translate a short passage from Spanish to English as part of the last question on the Reading exam. This Booklet is just for Theme 1, covering: • Relationships with family and friends • Marriage • Social media • Technology • Music • Cinema and TV • Food and eating out • Sport • Customs and festivals Altogether there are 9 translations for students to complete. There is an accompanying answer booklet too that has a breakdown of how students would get the 9 marks per question, following the format of the AQA mark scheme. The exam is not made for any particular exam board and can be used to practice/test skills required for all exam boards, including: Comprehension: reading the extract and answering questions relating to it (multiple choice). Explaining the meaning of certain words based on context/finding synonyms. Gap fill. Correcting grammatically incorrect sentences. Summary writing. Extended writing task (blog). Answers are included for every section EXCEPT Section B - the writing task. This is for the teacher to mark based on the quality of the student’s writing, but it could also be an opportunity for the students to peer assess.

A worksheet aimed at Years 10 and 11 students (although this can be used at A level to revise tense usage) which tests students’ knowledge of the tenses. It is structured as follows: Students have to conjugate verbs in the imperfect and then, from a list of uses for the Imperfect, decide which one fits the sentence best. Students do the same as the above, but with the preterite. The same as the above, but with the pluperfect. Students translate a set of sentences and think about the different contexts their tenses imply. Students finish sentences (si clauses) based on what tense should follow.
