Ask students to compare and contrast how social media is used in Montag’s world with how it used in today’s world. Explore the historical context of the film in regard to the Soviet-Afghan war and Islamic Law under the Taliban. Note: The bonus extension activity question on the last page requires additional research which may lead to discovering some unsettling punishments enacted by the Taliban.
