Bundle gathering the Foundation and Higher lesson, aimed at Yr10s, covering vocabulary of holiday travels with countries, transports and accommodation. Grammar: both cover “en”, “au”, “aux” before countries. Foundation: recap of the negative sentence with a focus on word order & present tense of “aller”. Higher: focus on the conditional, reflexive verbs to talk about routine, then reflexive verbs in the conditional (extension, the option of only recapping the present tense of reflexive verbs is also available).

Lesson aimed at a lower set of Yr11s and covering the vocabulary needed to book a hotel room (included showers, single/double bed, etc…) and covering the grammar point of nous vs on (useful for the 28 mark formal essay). A four-hour lesson. Lesson 1: Covering vocabulary of hotel rooms, and use of several games to enhance memory, before introducing sentences with “nous” and “on”, as well as “avec” and “sans”. Lesson 2: Practicing the vocab seen in Lesson 1 with a reading talking about several hotels. Introducing the grammar point of “on” vs “nous”. Lesson 3: Study of a listening (conversation to book a room) to pre empt questions used in a made up role play. Lesson 4: Students are given a card with information in English about the room they want to book and are asked to play out the role play.

Lesson 1: physical description Language presentation of height, then eye colours and hair colours (with sentence starters and word order). Practice through a reading (true or false? correct the sentence). Trapdoor activity that serves as a basis for a writing. Lesson 2: mental description. Introduction and practice of être (based on their prior knowledge of subject pronouns). Introduction of some adjectives (dual coded with English + images to support memory). Aimed at Yr10s Higher set. 4 lessons of 50 min / 1 hour covering information to have a conversation in a visitor information center. Lesson 1: basic new vocabulary (open/close…) and writing out sentences using je voudrais/ j’aimerais etc… Lesson 2: Higher version of I would like “je ne veux pas manquer/ je tiens à visiter…” and text (listening first) study to practice the new vocabulary. Lesson 3: Asking questions (grammar point) and listening practice of conversations. Lesson 4: Speaking practice based on ads (basis for this lesson found on TES). Some of the slides have been found on TES from other users and have been adapted to this lesson.

Lesson 2: Revision of Avoir auxiliary to extend the conjugation + game to revise irregulars (j’ai lu / vu / cru, etc…). Lesson 3: Study of a text known to the students (from Une sortie) to find the time markers and verbs. Lesson 4: Writing task in the past tense (can be used in lessons later to re write in 3 tenses) with extension on how to improve the sentences (sequencers, intensifiers, time markers,…)

Aimed at Yr11 Foundation sets covering jobs and how to say what you would like to be. The activities are differentiated. 2 lessons of 1 hour each. Lesson 1: Starts with conjugation of travailler in all tenses, with “je”, “on” and “ils” line. Then reading to cover the vocabulary of jobs and what each person does “policier - j’arrête les criminels”. Grammar: feminine and masculine of jobs. Lesson 2: Starter contains past paper questions revising Theme 1. The lesson covers qualities for each job (travailleur/euse, courageux/euse) and the type of job (varied, manuel, with good prospects…) with a sentence builder and a writing/speaking activity. Reading activity introduces higher sentence starters (my dream job would be, I don’t know what to do when I’m older but,…). Leads up to a writing. Check up my other resources if you like this one !

I am putting here Activities that I have found made by La Poste. It includes a French teacher pack to guide teacher towards writing a letter and teaching culture. It also has a PowerPoint with the links towards drawing activities to be sent to children in hospitals, recipes in French, a Christmas tale, sleep countdown, folding “une cocotte” with sentences about Chritsmas history and traditions that students can fold and use to present them to other people. Took me a while to find online and here they are for you to download and display! Also included is a banner to display on top of your board !
