There is over a 150 medicine key words, events, people, cards based on the history of medicine GCSE topic. These can printed and laminated. When printing choose to print 8 pages on one page as they they are a better size for tasks. These can then be used for a multitude of tasks, such as timing them into putting them into a time periods. I did this every so often after a couple of times, the time it took was halved. They can also be used for class game of pictionary where they have to choose one at random and describe or draw it for the class to guess. Placing them on the tables and then with whiteboard pens making links between different people and events or group them into different factors such as war, communication government etc. AFL task where the table has to sort them into those they can explain and the ones that they struggle with.

This lesson looks at what was happening to African Americans in the 1950’s focusing on the murder of Emmett Till. The lesson is based around the song by Bob Dylan. Students learn about the events of the murder and analyse the song lyrics. Students then complete a GCSE styled question. There is a model answer as well as sentence starters. Students are challenged to compare the lives of African American in the 50’s with what they have learn about the 1920’s.

This lesson looks at whether there were any winners or losers in the Korean War, it includes a GCSE question with sentence starters, as well as a model answer to evaluate. Students carry out a task reflecting on everything they have studied to work out winners and losers but can also use the fact sheet provided if they get stumped. The class can then have a vote using the voting slide and discuss results.

A lesson that looks at the role of MacArthur, there is an information gathering task where students read through sources and information. There is a GCSE source question, this includes sentence starters and the first paragraph to evaluate. There are also challenge tasks to stretch the top end.

A lesson that looks at the events leading to the North Korean invasion, with a worksheet created to help students organise their notes and a diagram to annotate. The lesson has got a lot of information to deliver but is broke up with questions to pose to students to assess understanding. The lesson then looks at how the US, UN and Soviet Union official officially responded to the invasion and students looking at the UN resolution, Truman’s speech and a transcript of the soviet radio broadcast. Lesson includes a GCSE Source Question and Essay question with sentence starters and model answers to help evaluate their work, Lesson also includes some challenge tasks.

A lesson in a SOW intended for a three year GCSE looking at the AQA: America 1920 -1973. Students investigate the inequalities created during the American Boom, students look at the rural experience, failing industries, farming industry, native Americans, black Americans etc. There is a GCSE question included with sentence starters for the less able and challenge tasks to stretch the top end.

This lesson looks at how the Supreme Court reacted to the New Deal and opposed it. Students look at two famous legal cases. There are challenge tasks to stretch and challenge students. There is a writing task with a focus on connectives. This lesson forms part of a three year SOW for AQA America 1920 - 1972 Opportunity and Inequality.

This lesson forms part of a SOW on the Industrial Revolution for year 8. The lesson looks at inventions developed during the industrial revolution and gets students to explain their important. The lesson includes a homework activity, a group task, a GCSE question, challenge tasks to stretch and challenge and writing frames to help those that need it.

A number of Key words for AQA France in Revolution. All the key words have images to help prompt students. These are great for revision. I print them so that 8 are on 1 page so they are smaller. Then laminate Following tasks can be completed with them: - Students have to define key words given to them - Students have to group key words that link together -Students can write definitions on the back and test each other. - Give a table the whole pack and time them whilst sorting them into groups of defining them. - Students create a ven diagram and group the words that are to do with each war and words that are to do with both.

Gap fill sheets that can be used as a starter to recap previous lessons or can be printed and stapled together to be used as revision material/homework. There are also some simplified timelines included as well.

A Year 7 Lesson that compares Roman Britain and the Iron Age, comes with writing frames for a GCSE styled question. Lessons have challenge tasks and scope for group and solo work.

A murder mystery lesson. This is aimed at getting students to work out facts and use evidence to work out the truth. The lesson was super engaging for both my top and bottom sets. Can be taught two ways either place the information around the rooms and students walk around and try and find it/ or place all the evidence into a pack (brown envelope, can place stickers on the envelope, students loved the little touches made it feel like a real CSI investigation). Students then work as a group trying to find out the story, this allows a competition element. The lesson ends with a write up of an account a writing frame is provided.

A Year 7 lesson that tries to introduce students to source skills. The main focus is looking at Nature, Origin, Purpose and inference skills. Students can work in groups and go through the Roman sources. The lesson after this looks at the utility of sources.

A selection of sheets that get students to recap and fill in key points and sections for each time period. There are some recap sheets to go with these as well. I usually do a lesson where students have to sit on a group of tables and work together on their weakest topic. Print on A3

This lesson is aimed at looking at how the monarchy’s power changed under Henry II. Students do a murder mystery activity looking at different sources about Thomas Becket’s murder and look at how the event challenged the power of the crown. This lesson works well after studying how William kept control. There is a GCSE styled question with sentence starters for the less able. There are challenge tasks to stretch the top end. Print off the evidence pack and either put it in an envelope or plastic wallet share them out between groups/tables. Make it a competition for students to work out the events of what happened.

The America topic has been divided up into each decade with a timeline of key events and key statistics for each, as well as a separate one for Women’s liberation and Civil Rights. I use these for recap tasks where students complete what they know and use these to DIRT and improve their answer. I have also printed of a couple and laminated and key changed together for students to take home for revision purposes.

A lesson that looks at why the armada in 1588 failed. Students weigh up luck, weaponry, leadership and ships. There is a multitude of sources included for students to read and try to analyse. Includes two different plenaries to choose from. I usually split over two lessons to go into detail. There is a GCSE styled question with sentence starters as well as challenge tasks.

Students investigate the different tactics such as chemical weapons, bombing campaigns, equipment etc. The lesson includes a GCSE source question and GCSE essay question both with sentence starters to aid weaker students.
