This double lesson introduces learners to the different ownership types such as sole traders, partnerships an private limited companies. We look at the pros and cons of each one. A few 3 mark questions with model answers to consolidate knowledge and exam technique. We then go on to read a case study about two brothers deciding to start up as either a sole trader and employee or as a LTD.
The second lesson looks at franchises, we look at the difference between franchisors and franchisees, then go on to discuss the pros and cons of each, finally applying it to a case study on Subway - which includes a 6 mark model answer for students to use to help each other peer assess. An design an advert to recruit franchisees to finish off!

In this double lesson, learners are introduced to Romanian orphan studies such as Michael Rutter (1998). We start by looking at the context and what led to such conditions in Romania in the first place before watching some clips and images of Romania’s orphanages in the past. We look at the key study of Rutter, followed by some true or false qs, evaluation task, MCQs, research task, short exam style question with mark scheme, box plenary and we finish with a kahoot quiz.

In this double lesson, we look at the influence of early attachment on later relationships, we recap the internal working model as it is relevant. We attempt a ‘love quiz’ by Hazan and Shaver, before looking their study in 1987. A group debate task to collate evidence for their argument, research task, MCQs, video clip, evaluation task, 16 mark exam style question with mark scheme, box plenary and we end with two kahoot quizzes to recap knowledge from the whole attachment unit.

Influence of early attachment on later relationships
In this lesson, learners develop their understanding further on depression, with an emphasis on the treatment for depression through cognitive approaches such as CBT.
We start with a discussion on how depression might be treated without the use of drugs, we then look at Beck’s cognitive therapy (CBT) and Ellis’ rational emotive behaviour therapy (REBT). In this lesson, learners are introduced to eyewitness testimony with a focus on misleading information.
We start by watching some engaging videos to highlight our weaknesses when observing or eyewitnessing. We then look into factors that influence accuracy of EWT such as leading questions and post event discussion. We replicate Loftus and Palmer’s (1974) study in class by watching the car smash/hit video and asking how fast the cars were travelling before discussing the research. This triple lesson introduces learners to the importance of having good relationships with suppliers and what makes a good supplier.Real life examples from Tesco and Vi Spring, a 6 mark context question with a modelled answer to develop exam technique. This bundle of lessons can be spread over 2-3 lessons and learners are introduced to the two financial statements. We start by breaking down an example of a Pizza shop’s revenues, costs and profit to show how the income statement is built step by step, students consolidate with an activity of creating an income statement for Ian Beale’s fish and chip shop. Answers provided to self assess.
We then go on to the statement of financial position or balance sheet, before looking at some financial information and carrying out calculations (which students would’ve learned in year 12 theme 2 such as current ratio), answers provided to self assess, next, using these answers students complete a 12 mark written question - the type that appears in paper 3, so it’s a good idea to make sure students are familiar with this. This double lesson introduces learners to decision trees, we break down the tree right from the very beginning, and look at how to construct one step by step, to ultimately work out the expected values of outcomes and the final net gains.
Students have the opportunity to practice calculations for themselves, and then self assess with the answers on the board. We then go on to look at the advantages and disadvantages of using decision trees, followed by a 10 mark question on the usefulness of decision trees.

This lesson introduces learners to budgeting, we start by looking at the purpose and types of budgets before moving onto variance analysis. An example calculation is demonstrated before students attempt a 4 mark exam style calculation question - answer is provided as well as an extra student answer for the class to identify where marks are given.
