This booklet complements the scheme of learning on ‘What is History?’ also available. It can also be used as a stand alone resource. The work booklet focuses on the skills needed for a successful transition from Year 6 to 7 in history and considers the discipline of history through sources; interpretations; chronology and other second order concepts. All of the necessary information is in the booklet/activities/spaces for students to write. This is the eleventh lesson for the Elizabeth I section for the A level unit on the Mid Tudors and Elizabeth. This is the 7th lesson for Key Topic 2, A level democracies and dictatorships in Germany. It focuses on economic recovery in Nazi Germany with a focus on the work of economist Schacht. The powerpoint contains all of the resources, however a text book is useful. Tasks are built in and involve research; analysis of statistics and evaluating the success of Schacht’s policies. This lesson is the second lesson for the new GCSE breadth study - Migrants in Britain, and it continues the analysis of causes of migration in the Medieval Era, with a focus on Jewish migration. Students will learn: About the effects of the Diaspora The role of the Jewish community as money lenders and the reasons for William I’s invitation How Jewish migration started to move outside London Students will draw on their understanding of how to write a 4 mark answer from last lesson, and will watch a clip about how well the Jews settled in England, and anti-semitism at the time. This resource has been created for either key stage 2 students transitioning to secondary school, or key stage 1 students moving into middle school. It has a humanities theme and contains tasks; ice-breakers and games to help the students relax; build confidence and make relationships while they learn. It begins with an ice-breaker. The students then learn about chronology - a paper task in pairs, and then a challenge where they have to move around the room talking to each other. It end with a geography and RE game where again all of the new students can learn about each other. You will need about an hour to do all of the activities, however some can be cut out if time does not permit.

This is a detailed historiography lesson which interrogates the evidence for whether Mary Tudor really deserved her title ‘bloody.’ It takes about two hours to teach and tests skills and knowledge. It can be used for Unit 1C of the AQA A level unit 1C or any other unit which covers this topic. It could also be useful as an AO4 lesson for GCSE students.
