The aim of this resource pack is to introduce pupils to ways of travelling to school now and in the past. Pupils complete graphs on how they travel to school, how their parents travelled to school and how their grandparents travelled to school. They answer questions about what they have found out and compare the different ways of travelling. Pupils should learn to distinguish between aspects of their lives and past times, sequence modes of transport correctly and sequence three drawings relating to their own lives.

A Maths support programme based on yearly tests which focus on key objectives. There is a test for pupils in each of the years 2 to 6 and each test has been designed around the key objectives in the previous year’s programme of study. The intention is that the pupils’ performance on the test would serve as a diagnostic tool for identifying areas of the previous year’s work which require further development for certain pupils.

This lesson uses the story of Branwen, daughter of Llyr, one of the four branches of the Mabinogi, as a basis for teaching comprehension, speech marks and adjectives. It begins with a simplified presentation of the story. The main activity presents drawings of Branwen and Bendigeidfran. Pupils assign adjectives to each character by gender. The plenary requires the correct positioning of speech marks into an extract of the story. There are five supporting worksheets at text and sentence level.
