Suitable for AQA GCSE Citizenship: Life in Modern Britain. Can be adapted for other courses and PSHE SOW, and easily taught by non-specialists. Lessons do not require any textbooks. All lessons begin with a do now task, have teacher input via text or video (which is embedded so please allow content when opening file), and have practice tasks for students to spend a length of time practicing exam style questions and statements. Life in Modern Britain. 14.15 Brexit. This lesson is planned for a double which in my school is 100 minutes, but with all the conversations, debates etc it actually took me three lessons (you may want to remove some of the video clips if you don’t have enough curriculum time!). This is planned for a double lesson which is 100 minutes in my school, but can end up longer as it includes a 50 minute documentary into the phone hacking scandal. This isn’t essential for students understanding of the topic and could be replaced by something much shorter. Looks at the Leveson Inquiry, Partygate, Mps expenses, Sarah Payne Campaign. BTEC National Unit 1 Level 3 This lesson looks at how income can impact a persons development. There is teacher input with regards to absolute and relative poverty, considering how redundancy can impact a person’s wellbeing and looking at social class. The lesson finishes with a 6 and a 10 mark exam question, with modelled answers for peer reviewing. This lesson was taught in a 100 minute lesson, so may provide enough content for 2 lessons if your periods are shorter than mine.

A new scheme of work aimed at KS3 Y7. This unit of work will be a Chronology of Monotheism. Starting with Genesis, moving through Judaism, Christianity and Islam. Each religion will cover Key religious figures, information on their holy book and a rite of passage/religious practice. The aim of this unit is to compliment our GCSE curriculum in which we study Christianity and Islam. The learning journey for the unit is included. L5- Looking at the Torah and it’s importance. Free Resource as I have adapted a diamond 9 activity found on a free TES resource. Uses True Tube video clip.

A new unit of work using the PSHE association mapping structure for the new 2020 Relationship, Sex and Health Education area. This unit is aimed at Year 7. But suitable for any KS3 group. Lesson 4 is looking at the media and body image. We look at how the ideal body type has evolved since the start of time, considering why these ideals change and why do we subscribe to them. The lesson then concentrates on the October 2018 cover of Cosmopolitan magazine in which they put Tess Holliday on the front (5foot 3 and 300lbs), there is a video from Good Morning Britain (Piers Morgan arguing with Cosmo editor) and students then complete and extended piece of writing on this topic area. A new unit of work using the PSHE association mapping structure for the new 2020 Relationship, Sex and Health Education area. This unit is aimed at Year 7. But suitable for any KS3 group. Lesson 9 finishes with basic contraception. As this unit is aimed at Year 7 this lesson is very light and factual regarding what contraception is used for and to help them consider, in the future, with method is right for them. There is a strong emphasis on the use of condoms, regardless of the other methods.
