Sensory Story for Special Needs/PMLD/SLD/ASD and Early Years.
The Journey by Neil Griffiths is a lovely rhyming story great for your weather, journeys or transport topic!
'On a windy autumn day,
A boat broke free and sailed away
has it gone for evermore, and
what adventures are in store?’
This rhyming story takes you on a magical journey with the little red boat that the boy once lost. As the boat slipped from his grasp, the boy watched sadly as it disappeared from view. Follow the boat on its exciting voyage into the unknown and marvel at what lies at its journey’s end.
This sensory story is laid out in a simple format of:
Do, Say, Play and additional info
In each category it tells the teacher what staff are doing, what the teacher is saying, and what music is playing.
Each ‘scene’ is threaded together using the text/rhyme from the story. The story has an obvious build-up of tension where pupils have opportunities to express their excitement and anticipation.
