Quick starter for logic gates lesson

A simple crtieria sheet for a PowerPoint quiz. Used with my ECDL students to practice their skills and my Creative iMedia students before starting R087. Sheet used for self-assessment and peer/teacher assessment.

A number of Excel skills in an Excel workbook that is self-marking including basic formulas, IF, COUNTIF, COUNTBLANK, HLOOKUPS, VLOOKUPS, MACROS, USEFUL FORMULAS, GOAL SEEK, LAYOUT, CASCADING MENUS, CELL PROTECTION. Useful as a skills revision, testing or introduction or as a teaching tool to prepare students for spreadsheet work. Suitable for ECDL - students just won’t need to cover all of the workbook to prepare for the exam. I’ve included an xlsm version and answers plus an .xls version as the instructions are slightly different. Macro helpsheet included for one of the tasks.

A one-page mini project in which students have to make a floorplan and fill it with digital technology. Includes a template for students who struggle to make a floorplan and a slide to show on the whiteboard for a teacher. Suitable for a one-off/cover lesson or a short series of lessons to help students build up their digital literacy skills. The PDF can be ticked and typed into!

Students are guided though fact finding before they choose how to present their work. They have to cover protecting a device, using location services, safe searching, keeping safe and when communicating online.

Students translate common Computing words they have studied/know into a language they study at school/other language they speak. They then made a poster for each word.

A short activity where students look at the audience and purpose of three websites. Template is completed on the computer so the students can just check the boxes and fill in the specific places rather than format the document.

After completing visual identity practice I then move onto teaching students how to prepare images that they download off the web so they are suitable for a ‘main graphic’. On the stages we work through setting up folders to keep them organised, download and store the images; change the resolution, take screenshots to evidence the steps taken; save the image for use later. You will need to think of a practice idea as I use this sheet alongside a themed set of lessons preparing students for R094. Note: Repurposing is mentioned though does not have detail about this as I have another dedicated resource for this.
