Double Lesson for ALevel OCR TUdor Rebellions focused on the Oxfordshire and Essex Rebellions- more on the Essex Rebellion since Oxfordshire is not very significant and doesn’t have lots of material.
Very comprehensive 2 x 2 hour lessons (more if you use the Starkey youtube clip)- ((you may want to include a disclaimer about his views not being the views of your History department!)) and use all of the reading.
Essex is such a character- I love teaching this.
You can also buy this as part of a bundle of Tudor Rebellions lessons on Rebellions against Mary and Elizabeth (England only) I have a separate bundle for Ireland.
This lesson is an intro to the Suffragettes for Y9- it examines Victorian attitudes towards women and looks at despite rich women having some benefits they were still repressed in terms of rights in the household, their opinions etc.
Includes video clips from Mary Poppins and Oliver Twist, sources from anti-women’s suffrage posters and also discussions around how far sexual equality has moved on since women got the vote with modern adverts and stats.
ALevel lesson (2 hours long) on the Revolt of the Northern Earls 1569
Designed for OCR Tudors Rebellion and Disorder course- looks at the rebellion according to the themes- causes, nature, threat, reasons for defeat and impact.
Very detailed and comprehensive resources, all information included- no textbook needed. Also includes analysis and evaluation tasks and critical thinking.
This is a collection of 21 activity ideas/ templates for ALevel teaching. Can also be used for GCSE too- examples are History but can be adapted to other subjects.
The examples I have used can be used for Alevel Tudor Rebellions or Russia in Revolution as these are the topics I teach.

OCR Tudors Rebellion and Disorder/ Tudor Rebellions Thematic ALevel Course
This lesson covers the Yorkshire Rebellion of 1489.
I teach the rebellions initially thematically with attention to the themes as we go through and then I cover the themes discretely at the end.

Can be used for any spec and for an Alevel course on the Tudors/ Wars of the Roses- Henry VII government and foreign policy
This is a detailed and comprehensive lesson which is fully resourced on the Cornish rebellion of 1497
Includes all resources, a detailed powerpoint and several activities as well as a retrieval quiz on the previous rebellions (I teach Warbeck after Cornish)

Edexcel GCSE (Can be used by other boards) lesson on the Arms Race
Key Topic 1: Lesson 5 the Arms Race and escalating tension between East and West
This one follows my lesson on the First Berlin Crisis 1948
Causes and consequences of the Arms Race between USA and USSR- also includes leadership changes from Stalin-Khrushchev and Truman-Eisenhower and a brief bit of contextual info on Korea (Korea is not explicitly a part of this spec but is useful to see what is going on). Also has links to a video to demonstrate the destructive power of Hydrogen bomb compared to Atomic bomb used in Japan.
Also includes a brief bit on the Geneva summit 1955 and a guided “Write a narrative account anaysing key events of Berlin Crisis” question with model answer.
OCR ALevel Depth study as part of thematic Tudor Rebellions course.
This resource will cover x4 hours of teaching plus homework- it also includes an example assessment (interpretations) witth feedback and a model paragraphs section.

OCR Alevel Tudors Rebellion and Disorder/ Tudor Rebellions
This is a lesson on Perkin Warbeck’s rebellion
I teach this AFTER the Cornish rebellion even though it technically begins before- this is to group the economic rebs and have them bookended by Dynastic threats and also to show the response to the rebellion when Warbeck lands in Cornwall in Sept and ensure students do not muddle that with the Cornish rebellion of 1497 (early summer)
