Edexcel GCSE Weimar and Nazi Germany (can be used for ANY exam board and adapted up/ down for KS3/ KS5) Lesson examines the Munich Putsch in Germany and how Hitler tried to seize power plus analysis and evaluation of the impact and why it could be argued to be a success or a failure for the Nazis. Useful for Senior Leadership Links and Heads of Department/ Faculty/ Key Stage. My department recently had a very positive experience in an Ofsted Deep Dive. I have attached some useful materials to help other Heads of Department to support the process and to support their teams in what could be (but doesn’t need to be) a stressful experience. Firstly it is important to know- this is not a quick fix- you cannot pull the wool over their eyes if your department has a lot of work to do. However it is not a problem if you have areas of development as long as you and your team know what they are and you have a plan to address them. This is an overview resource/ learning journey for a Key Stage 3 History Curriculum and is a fully editable learning journey powerpoint. Useful for schools looking to improve their History curriculum- has been approved by Ofsted as an outstanding curriculum but can be further adapted/ improved. This is underpinned by key themes as you can see in the image. May also be useful for schools looking to build a more representative curriculum or move from a 2 year to 3 year KS3. Lesson for ALevel History This is for the OCR Thematic Tudor Rebellions scheme of work but can be used for Tudors looking at social unrest due to socio-economic problems in the Mid-Tudor Crisis. Full lesson which covers all aspects of the rebellion with a variety of activities including card sort, venn diagram, tables, continuum and lots of reading. Examines Causes, Aims, Nature, Events, Reasons for Increased Threat and Decreased Threat, Government resopnse and Impact of the Kett rebellion.

Alevel lessons on Tudor Rebellions This is work for 2 2 hour lessons plus homework on the Nature and Threat of the Western rebellion. The Western Rebellion is one of the key rebellions which students need to study in depth for OCR ALevel. This lesson has a retrieval starter based on previous lesson. Colour code, mapping exercise to learn the narrative of the rebellion. Includes a detailed timeline/ chronology of the Western rebellion which will save you hours as I had to put it together from many different sources. Also includes a huge A3 threat evaluation sheet broken down into key criteria used to evaluate threat. This is a depth study so resources are very detailed. Analysis of threat based on all work done so far and a conclusion as well as a key debate on how violent the western rebels were.

Alevel Russian History OCR -can be used for any spec/ GCSE if simplified Very comprehensive double 2 hour lesson plus homework on the Impact of WWI on Russia - Economics, Society and Politics and the Causes of the February Revolution Includes a very detailed powerpoint including retrieval tasks for previous work studied, including debates, e.g. how stable was Russia on eve of war? Was the February revolution from above or below? Looks at all political, economic and social effects of WWI follows my previous lesson on How stable was Russia in 1914. Card sort of factors, Ripple diagram for pupils to fill in with causes for different groups in society e.g. national minorities and peasants vs army and industrial workers. Also includes an example 20 mark essay examining the significance of WWI vs Nicholas II’s actions even before WWI.

KS3 lesson (can be adapted for KS4) using sources for students to independently investigate life in the trenches and why the casualty rate was so high. -Includes all resources- video clip of Harry Patch describing losing a fellow soldier and the injuries they suffered, sources and guided note taking sheet.

Lesson on the Red Terror, the Cheka, Political Decrees, Murder of Romanovs, War Communism and Gulags This is a source based lesson for students to do in groups. It examines the various methods Bolsheviks used to consolidate their power and control. To complement my lessons on the Civil War- this has more in depth analysis of War Communism, Propaganda, the Cheka etc as well as in depth work on murder of the Romanovs. No powerpoint- just a big A3 template, a card sort and lots of sources
