The Scottish Qualifications Authority (SQA) results data published this week includes the number of entries for each subject at each level, as well as the corresponding figures for previous years.
Tes Scotland has sorted the entries data for Higher in 2023 and 2019, the last year before the Covid pandemic hit Scotland, to show the 30 most popular Highers in both years.
Some noticable trends include the continuing growth of PE as a Higher subject and the emergence of the new subject of applications of mathematics. The tables also underline the lower numbers taking languages at Higher compared with before the pandemic, which we highlighted yesterday.
Other trends include generally higher numbers of students taking social subjects and a dip in entries for the sciences.
