The Centre for Information on Language Teaching and Research is running the following free events at 20 Bedfordbury, Covent Garden, London WC2: Dramatising stories for children: community languages and English in primary schools, June 21; alternative accreditation to GCSE and A-level, June 28; and a presentation on the European Year of Languages, July 12. Courses include: Spanish and German improvement days for key stage 3 teachers of SpanishGerman and teachers of beginners higher up the school, June 22 and July 7 respectively. Residential courses in Europe include: French for the primary school in Vichy, France, July 16-30; teaching French to young learners in Besancon, France, July 15-29; and teaching German to young learners in Prien, Germany, October 15-28. The Goethe-Institut London is running an intensive course for teachers of German in primary and middle schools at 50 Princes Gate, Exhibition Road, London SW7, July 24-28, 10.30am-3.30pm. A parallel course will take place in Manchester. Fee: pound;75 (including course materials). Application deadline: July 17.
