Young people are the focus of a campaign in Scotland’s capital to show how the job market is changing and what work is available in spite of the recession.
As part of its Working Capital project, Edinburgh City Council is sending out posters about employment to schools, colleges and Careers Scotland offices.
There are now fewer jobs for secretaries and clerical workers, skilled machine operators and unskilled workers. Nine out of 10 jobs in Edinburgh are in the service sector.
The city’s two biggest employers, the council and NHS Lothian, will need to replace nearly a third of staff over the next 10 years, the poster says. It also highlights the kind of skills the council expects to be needed in tomorrow’s job market. ES.
