Coronavirus: Eurosskills Graz 2021 Postponed 'indefinitely'

The EuroSkills competition due to take place in Graz, Austria, in January 2021 has been postponed indefinitely, WorldSkills UK has said.

Neil Bentley-Gockmann, chief executive of WorldSkills UK, said that the decision was due to the "worsening Covid-19 situation in Europe".

He said: “We are saddened by this decision, but we fully understand it. We had been working closely with our colleagues in Graz to develop a comprehensive Covid-19 prevention concept, but, without being able to guarantee the safety of all delegates, it is not viable to hold an event at this time.

“I wanted to thank all of our Team UK members and training staff who have been working tirelessly to prepare for this competition. I share their disappointment, but our training with them will continue as we look ahead to WorldSkills Shanghai and our continued participation in international competitions, which play a vital role in helping to mainstream excellence into the UK’s skills systems.”
