In the autumn it was feared boys would be stopped from playing schools football but Scottish Schools’ Football Association secretary John Watson says: “The Scottish Premierleague board took a step back and would not sanction it, so basically it’s still up to the clubs whether they let their players play for their schools.
“There are only four (of the 12) clubs - Celtic, Rangers, Hearts and Hibernian - choosing not to do that just now.
“The Scottish Football Association is looking at introducing a new youth registration form which would address such issues, but it is likely to be another year before that comes into being.”
