Braveheart is a pretty terrible movie, but you’ll have to watch it again before citing it in a TES leader (”‘Freedom’ debate: be quick or you’ll miss it”, May 28). The denouement is Mel Gibson being disembowelled and having his head cut off - only then does he cry “freedom”. Perhaps this role is now played by Ofsted, for which the wheeze of freeing the “outstanding” schools from further visitations may prove to be the beginning of a deserved end.
